Beauteque offers two subscriptions featuring Asian beauty products delivered to your door monthly. Products include makeup, skin care, body care, and more. For $22 per month, your BB Bag comes with 6-8 full size products. If you like masks, the Mask Maven subscription brings you 9-11 various masks monthly starting at $14. The following is a review of the February BB Bag.
On a Side Note: Before trying any Asian cosmetic subscription, expect that most information on the package will be in the native language. That said, more and more brands are including directions/ingredients in English, and information can also be found in English on the majority of brands’ websites (you may have to choose a brand’s global or US site). Secondly, a large number of products focus on brightening or whitening the skin. As a person of color, I have not seen my skin color change. Instead, I’ve experienced that my skin tone gets evened out after prolonged use. However, your results may be different. And lastly, many products contain ingredients which are animal-derived, so these may not be an option if you are vegan. You can also check out cosDNA.com to see if the ingredients for the product are listed there.
Everything in my mailer. I love the red bag for Valentine’s day.
The fold out card has information on each of the products and basic how to use directions. Pricing for products varied across sites. The prices listed are those of Beauteque. Here’s the note from the front of the information card.

My BB Bag unloaded!
Premium Snow White Modeling Mask by Anskin ($19.00): These modeling masks are interesting. They seem like clay masks, but dry to a silicone/gel consistency for easy peel off. The powder is mixed in a 1:0.7 ratio with water, and spread on the skin to dry. The Snow White formula is used to treat imperfections such as darkness, blemishes, and improve transparency, elasticity, and hydration. It contains arbutin which inhibits melanin production and can lead to skin lightening with regular and long term use. Other ingredients include sodium hyaluronate, allantoin, and extracts of apricots and grapefruit. Others may have received the Dual Firming, Moisturizing, or Anti-Wrinkle formulas.
Modeling Activator Ultimate Solution by Anskin ($5.00): This activator is to be used in place of water when mixing the modeling mask. It contains additional nutrients to improve the skin such as extracts of skullcap root, licorice root, black hoof mushroom, aloe, and collagen. Note, this should only be used with masks from the same brand.
No, my face is not melting. Surprisingly, this did not drip.
Since I wasn’t sure how much powder I’d need to make a mask, I didn’t use the activator. I mixed a half cup of powder and the appropriate amount of water per the ratio. This was actually enough mask for 2 people to use (pictured is what was left after I put on my mask). Also, in every video I watched, the mask was mixed in a plastic bowl and applied with what looked like a plastic off-set spatula. This felt cold going on, but I thought it was because I used cold water. Nope, the mask has a cooling effect as it dries. I can’t say that I noticed a difference in my skin texture or tone, but I do feel refreshed.
Honey Banana Cleansing Foam by Scinic ($12.99): So, let me first say that if you do not like the scent of bananas, you will definitely not like this. That was what I noticed immediately, and it is overly sweet and artificial smelling. This is a very rich cleanser, and like other I’ve used, only requires a pea sized amount to clean your face. This did a really good job of getting off my waterproof mascara and left my skin feeling soft.
Beauteque Exfoliating Brush ($25.00): This has to be the softest brush ever! The densely packed bristles really captured the lather from the cleanser and made it go a long way. Unlike the picture on Beauteque’s website, the handle is not wood, but a hard rubber. To me, the price point is a bit inflated as I’ve gotten similar brushes for half the cost.
Rose Essence Lip Balm by SkinFood ($9.99): Sorry, but I couldn’t try this. I think roses are beautiful, but I am not a fan of their scent and couldn’t fathom that near my mouth (even if it was light). There is also a bit of tint to the lip balm. Other subscribers received the Avocado Lip Balm which I would have preferred.
Sleeping Clinic Ample by L’ador ($4.00): This contains extracts of Lily of the Valley, lotus flower, Dalmatian iris root, edelweiss, and jasmine to treat/repair hair while your sleep. Apply the ampoule to freshly washed hair from root to tip. As it is absorbed, it helps to strengthen damaged strands and recondition hair. This has a nice clean scent. I’ll try this as my deep conditioner later this week.
This bag is valued over $75, but a third of that is just attributed to the exfoliating brush. Factoring that out, you are still receiving more in product value than the cost of the subscription. Most of the items were not available on the Beauteque site, and I had a hard time finding them on non-Korean sites as well. This is frustrating if you want to reorder an item. I liked that there was a variety of products to try, and the modeling mask was new to me.

I got a bag this month too. I loved the banana cleanser! It smelled so good and I didn’t think it was strong at all. I love banana things! I got the revitalizing mask and used it with the additive. I’ve never used anything like it. It was bizarre to peel it off your face because it was like peeling off slabs of skin. You were right that I probably didn’t use enough mask (for readers, I sent Summer a fabulous picture of me masking up). But my skin feels soft even after my shower. I’m not good enough at applying masks to not shower after. My daughter loved the rose lip balm. I’m trying to get her to like all the rose things that I don’t. I didn’t really see the point of the brush – it’s super soft. I will also pass that on to miss A.
I would NOT be upset at all if you had k-beauty overload and wanted to take a month off. I thought it was fun!
Brandy, I’m glad that you enjoyed the bag! The modeling mask is truly an interesting experience – it reminded me of the special FX shows where actors are being molded for prosthetics.
I don’t know about K-beauty overload, but I’ll share the fun with you. Let me know when you want to take a month. 🙂
