I decided that a cold Saturday afternoon was a pleasant way to embarrass myself in the neighborhood by trying on the dresses that arrived from the Modcloth January 2016 Stylish Surprise Sale. While my neighbors walked their dogs and took down Christmas decorations, my husband and I gave them plenty of gossip to share among themselves. I’ve purchased dresses from Modcloth in the past that I loved. Will I love my mystery dresses?
ModCloth offers “Stylish Surprise” mystery grab bags a couple times a year. Last week they offered:

You can buy as many as you want as long as they’re in stock – you select the size, and there’s free shipping at $75, so most people buy multiples.
Modcloth confused everyone by having the sale in January instead of March. Further confusion is upon me because the items I received are summer items. My husband was reluctant to zip up the blue and white Taylor Dress resulting in my awkward pose. I left a little gap between the dress and the wrap to show you that it is sleeveless. The wrap is from the December Artistry Gifts Box.
The 100% polyester dress is lined and has pockets. I’m not sure how I feel about the dress yet. It’s hard for me to tell without it being properly zippered. It was comfortable to wear.
The Pink Owl Navy Blue Dress is a size smaller than the other two dresses. I found with ModCloth I need to order a size up in dresses.
I decided to pair it with the bath towel from the Globein Jan Benefit Basket. The 100% polyester dress needs to be laundry by hand in cold water and dry flat.
The dress is comfortable to wear. I was able to walk around without showing anything extra. I feel like I should be wearing 5″ stilettos and trying out for a subscription box blogger reality show.
I joked with my husband that there would be another wedding renewal dress in the box. The 1950s Style Ivory Cotton Sateen Scallop Brenda Swing Dress by Queen of Hartz fits. This white dress is my second wedding type dress from a ModCloth Stylish Surprise Sale.
Ignore the bad hair day. I wanted to show that I paired the dress with the necklace from the January Your Bijoux Box.
The dress is 97% cotton and 3% spandex. I feel like I should be going somewhere special.
I agreed to wear the second dress for a night in with my husband. I’m not sure how I feel about the other two dresses. I hope everyone enjoyed seeing what I received. Remember my husband and I are not professional stylists!

Boobalisious and great legs! So not fair. The dresses all look nice on you and fit well. The Pink Owl is a little short but opaque tights as Sarah suggested would work.
What is your normal style? I’m a dark colors kind of girl and only into flowers or lace as accents so these aren’t for me personally. Modcloth and I aren’t super compatible but I like their stuff on other people!

I can’t believe i posted the Blue Owl Dress. I would never wear it outside of my house. I’m too old for short dresses.

I think you looked lovely in that dress, you could always pair it with opaque tights if the length makes you uncomfortable. I ordered a dress and two apparel items, they haven’t arrived yet. The last Stylish surprise I received was a bust so I’m hoping for something more my style this time.
