My mailer came with my fragrance and two cards. Looks like Scentbird has some new packaging!  There’s a new “Scent Muse” and it seems like they have left behind the farce of having them choose the perfume of the month.

Scentbird’s Perfume Editors pick a new scent every month to feature. The January scent is Nest Fragrances’ Indigo. February’s is Cartier Goutte De Rose, “a bright and joyful fragrance, infused with the delicacy of a freshly picked garden rose.” You can see all the previous ones at the bottom of the Scent of the Month page. I use this when I need some inspiration!

Apparently you can now get on demand scents, but if you’re a subscriber it’s less expensive to get a new one each month and there’s something to be said about giving yourself time to enjoy your new scent for a while.

Your first month will include a little perfume vial case and velvet holder. Scentbird decants the perfume from the manufacturer’s bottle to a little glass vial that fits in the sprayer. The perfumes are 100% authentic and you’ll receive an 8ml sprayer. A card comes with the vial demonstrating its use. You just twist it to spray!

The sprayer now comes in this neat cardboard tube (it was previously a box). I tend to store all my sprayers in mugs, so I’m not sure if I can reuse this tube for something interesting. Maybe sewing needles!

I selected Nest’s Midnight Fleur.

Exotic wood, patchouli, and black amber are blended with sensual notes of night-blooming jasmine and vanilla orchid. The combination of these notes is bold, irresistible, and purely sensual.

Inspired by the works of 18th Century British artist Mrs. Mary Delany, Laura Slatkin collaborated with master perfumers to translate these works of art into luxurious fragrances that capture the essence of each of the botanicals that adorn the products’ striking packaging.

The scent is sweet and delicate without being overpowering. It’s quite feminine but totally without the normal notes you will find in a designer or department store scent. My husband was a fan of this one and I think it might be my Valentine’s Day scent!

I feel you need to look at the bottle to get a sense of this perfume, although you probably only need to see it once, it would be lovely to have the full size. Scentbird calls this an “everyday, mysterious, floral” scent.

ScentBird also provides a quick visual guide to the perfumes – and that’s exactly why I chose it – a nice every day scent for winter. You can get even more details on the different vectors of the scent by mousing over each of the main areas.

I was really happy with the value of my selection this month too – 8 ml is equivalent to a rollerball, and for this fragrance that costs $25! As always, I think this subscription is a really fun way to sample new scents without a big investment!
