January!

Pehr Designs Pebble Sack Bin ($40) I can’t ‘contain’ my excitement over an organizing bin (and yes, I really had to type that!). It’s totally awesome to get a full-size organizing bin in any subscription, and this is so well made, pretty, and with a modern yet unobtrusive design. Let’s get organized! I can’t decide what I’m using this cotton canvas container for, but it will hold quite a bit!POPSUGAR must have box january 2016 IMG_4750

That’s the book waaay down at the bottom! The bin is 13″ high. I’m glad the box came with a coupon for this company so I can pick up more if I choose.

Not Soap, Radio Bath and Shower Gel Gift Set ($7.50) This is a lovely little set of dual purpose bath/shower gel that doubles as bubble bath from a great brand – and each one is made with a different scent and herbal extract!

  • Liquid Freud – St. John’s Wort – coconut milk mango + vanilla
  • When life gives you one too many lemons – lemon essential oil – lemon + sugar
  • To sleep full of sweet dreams – lavender + chamomile – lavender + clementine
  • Bathing with sharks  – royal jelly – beach + sky blue water
  • Awash in a field of four-leaf clover – shamrock oil – green & white tea + clover

I didn’t know shamrock oil was a thing! Liquid Freud was my favorite.

Note that this was listed on the card as a $22 set – I think it’s a typo, because this set contains 5 1oz travel size bodywashes (2 ouncers are $3 each). In this case more may have been better?

Patchology FlashMasque Trio ($20) These 5-minute sheet masks promise to do the work of a 20 minute mask in a quarter of the time. Score! Sometimes I don’t have the time for a full treatment (although they say you can leave them on longer too). The masks included were Exfoliate (gently removes dead skin cells for more even tone and texture), Hydrate (delivers a mega-dose of long-lasting moisture to soften and replenish skin), and Illuminate (restores fresh-faced radiance to lackluster, dull complexions).

The Exfoliate mask is the one I tried, and it definitely felt a little tingly! It uses papaya and pineapple extracts to remove dead skin cells and soften skin.

FYI, these masks are SUPER wet. I used the excess liquid on my palms to go on the back of my hands and neck/décolletage areas. I’m really happy with this item!

Blue Sky Day Designer Weekly Planner ($16.99) I really wish that POPSUGAR would send out planners way in advance of January, because people who do actually plan tend to purchase their planners well in advance (and we all know that planners come out in June & July, right?).  I wonder what would happen if I tried to make my husband use it! It is a good planner with a pretty cover.

And has nice little to-do checkboxes. And actually in the middle of writing this post my husband decided he was all for using this planner! Win! Because this is a simple planner I think most people could use it for auxiliary planning needs.

Spark Joy: An Illustrated Master Class to the Art of Decluttering and Organizing by Marie Kondo ($11.49) This is a sequel to Marie Kondo’s first organizing book. My best friend Jen is a total Konmarie adherent and I think folds her underwear – this book is going straight to her and she couldn’t be more excited. The idea of folding underwear is completely opposite of the way I live my life. I’m sure it would be improved if I could gaze upon all my undies, rolled, and organized in a rainbow pattern, but it ain’t happening anytime soon. Bless you, all you folders.

In short – if the idea of illustrated folding guides make you happy, you will love this book. If it makes you cringe, pass it to a friend immediately – it’s a hot book, they won’t be sad!

Project & INC Summer Snow Sugar Free Gum ($1.99) Yum, already gone! Project 7 donates 1/7 of its proceeds to charity and their sugar free gum is super tasty.

Chapstick Total Hydration 100% Natural Soothing Vanilla ($2.99) This is a Special Extra, which means it’s a sponsored item. It’s 100% natural so totally ok with me. This one is going to my daughter, who is battling seriously chapped lips (we’re trying to lose that lip licking habit!).

This was a great box! Although I’m personally anti-folding, I can’t fault POPSUGAR for including a hot new organizing bestseller in a January box, plus the value of this box came in around $101. I didn’t get my box until the 20th though, which made me a little bit cranky (in addition, I’m still waiting on candle replacements from the Holiday for Her box), so I hope things pick up in February – remember they’re billing early so boxes can ship right away. I really hope it’s as awesome as last February’s box, which was fantastic.

With over a dozen monthly subs for several years now, I’ve become quite the pro at finding a use for the seemingly useless. But this awesomely colored planner. Hmm…. In the middle of January? And I rely heavily on my phone’s calender, as well? Grr…..

However, my love of planning, plan-y, plan-like…things came through like a champ. Go me.

So, I’m using it as a menu planner. You know, what dinner on what night of the week, and then listing ingredients and making a shopping list. Helps me to, um, plan. When to take what out of the freezer. What nights will have lots of leftovers. When we can skip dinner that night because we have other, you guessed it, plans.

Oh, one last thing. The tote bin works magnificent to store and carry around one’s adult coloring books and their accoutrements (pencils, pens, sharpeners, etc.). Just sayin’.

It’s the perfect size for menu planning. My husband happily accepted it as his planner. He needs a little help in that area! I haven’t deployed my bin yet, but it will probably go for kids’ crafting supplies. They multiply like bunnies! 🙂
