beautyfix january 2016 BOX

BeautyFIX is a monthly beauty subscription box from DermStore.com. This subscription has changed quite a bit – in 2015 it changed its name from Blush Mystery Beauty Box, and now features more sample size than full-size items (but is still an amazing deal – it’s only $24.95!).

The information card has details on each item, along with pictures, and you often get a freebie sample in your box.

Everything in the January box! FYI, you can purchase this box through the end of the month and sometimes even a little longer.

Danielle Creations Chrome Mini Mirror ($14.99) This is such a cool and useful item to come in a subscription – this is desk-worthy for me, so I can touch up right at my desk. I love that it’s magnified, too! It’s just what I needed!

Peter Thomas Roth Acne-Clear Invisible Dots ($6) These are translucent adhesive patches that hydrate, clarify, and help heal blemishes by applying salicylic acid right to your skin. They’re not wear to Target worthy but they won’t be as distracting to other people when you’re hanging out at home. I think it’s a great idea to help prevent you from spreading acne bacteria by stopping you from touching a pimple!

I’m not really sure where this little packet of Derma E Microdermabrasion scrub came from, but it was in my box! It’s not on the card but does have a value of $1.42. I won’t count it, it was probably a BeautyFix freebie!

Karuna Age-Defying Hand Mask ($8) I love the idea of a hand mask! You can really keep the product on for a long time while still being able to use other things. You slip on the gloves, massage in the creamy oil, and wait for 15-20 minutes, then come out with supersoft hands. Much cheaper and less messy than dipping your hands in wax – and it made my hands super duper soft.

Medicell Labs Hydrating Calming Facial Mist ($11.99) I love facial mists and this one had a pretty strong natural scent – rose, peppermint, and lavender. I found it to be soothing and I’ll use the entire thing.

ARCONA Magic White Ice Hydrate ($12) This is a lighter weight yet hydrating gel-formula moisturizer. Love them, but I’ll probably save it for the spring when my skin is a little less dry. It has a natural cranberry scent that I didn’t expect!

June Jacobs Papaya Purifying Enzyme Masque ($8.38) This is a perfect winter mask – it dissolves dead skin cells using natural papaya extracts. I’ve been using it before showering and just rinsing away in the shower, and my skin has totally been softer than normal.

DS Laboratories Revita LT – High Performance Hair Stimulating Shampoo ($5.54) I definitely need more hair, so I’m giving this hair-stimulating shampoo a shot!

This shampoo uses natural cleansers to help stimulate hair growth and revitalize your scalp. They did send the version that is for blond and other shades of light hair – I don’t particularly know why you would need a different shampoo if it isn’t depositing color. It might just be marketing, I’m totally unsure, but I’ll use it anyways.

Tarina Tarantino Pearl Glow Luminizing Primer in Pearl ($14.99) This is so pretty, but warning, the formula separates and the initial pumps are weird liquid and the product itself smelled like a crayon! You can’t see it in this photo but the product was clearly separated. I think it was old and expired and I won’t use it on my face.

I tried it anyways on my hand. The primer itself has a pearlescent finish from light-reflecting pigments for more of a soft-focused look (but not shiny). It’s very subtle and you could totally wear it by itself if you want – not a speck of glitter. I do really like the Tarina Tarantino packaging but I wish I hadn’t received old primer.

As usual, BeautyFIX offers a skincare and hair regrowth heavy box, but it isn’t ok to send out clearly expired product (and I was not alone in receiving one) . The value was about $82 – over three times the cost of the box – but only $67 without. I still like this box without the primer, and I love the mirror.
