Dearest Whiskers is a new cat box that came out in December 2015 and is owned by Katie Haefner, a certified vet technician. She introduced the box in response to parents seeking healthier toys for their adorable kitties. Kio, her cat, is the official product tester. Dearest Whiskers focuses on providing handmade artisan cat toys, natural treats, cat supplies, accessories and homeopathic items. Expect 3-4 items although the January box has five items in it.
The information card is on top. The items are wrapped in tissue paper and tied with twine which I thought was a nice touch. Our kitties love to play with twine.
Little Lamb realized that there were kitty treats to be had. He has been circling the table waiting for the moment I looked away. I turned my back on him for one minute! He was eager to start the unboxing process.
At this point, the cats realized there were new cat toys. The January box contained 5 items although the website says to expect 3-4 items.
The 100% Cotton Jingle Cat Ball by Jennie’s Pet Corner ($5.95) won’t disappear under your stove or fridge. It makes a jingle sound while keeping your kitties safe from plastic allergies. It is catnip free and handmade in Connecticut, USA. The cats enjoyed playing with the ball.
The Strawberry by Cherry Willow ($4.25) was a huge hit with the kitties. They all wanted to keep it for themselves. The strawberry is made out of 100 cotton and contains polyfill and catnip pellets. It’s handmade in Utah, USA. Wait until you see our cats enjoying this toy!
The Popsicle by Sinfully Sweet Designs ($1.66) is handmade in Illinois and uses homegrown catnip. The materials are felt, fiber fill, and homegrown catnip. Another toy that they loved!
The Hand-Made Lime Half Catnip Filled Cat Toy by Kawaii Cat Toys ($5.00) is cute! The catnip toy is handmade in Ohio. It contains 100% organic catnip, fleece, poly fill, and fabric paint. The fruit accents are hand drawn. It’s another win for the kitties!
The Kitty Garden by Pioneer Pet ($3.99) is an easy way to provide your kitty with grass. The kit comes with organic oats, wheat, rye and barley seeds along with a ceramic container. The seeds sprout in 3-4 days. The seeds are super easy to plant. Place the pellet in the container with about 1 ounce of water. Wait 10 minutes for it to expand into moist soil. Insert seeds into soil and mist daily. I would show the end results except we are holding off on planting the seeds because our house is cool in the winter. Our kitties will love the grass. They demolish any catnip plants I try to keep. I am certain grasses will be no exception.
Onwards to the cat photos!
The box is a hit with the kitties. They could not wait to get into the box and start playing with the toys. The toys were well-made, and the kitty garden will be put to good use. It was nice to be able to give them toys without worrying about the contents.
The box is a relatively new subscription box. I believe there is room in the cat box market for this type of box. It isn’t the box for everyone, but the people wanting or needing it will appreciate the curation. The value of this box is not in obtaining a cat box with a high dollar amount. The value is in giving your kitties toys that they can enjoyed without worrying about plastic allergies or if the catnip/treats are made in China.
