Comic Block is a monthly subscription box from the Nerd Block Family of geek crates! With this subscription you’ll receive 3 fresh comic books, a shirt, and other goodies each month.

This box is great as you can see there is special care for the contents.  Comic books are wrapped in plastic and/or bagged and boarded.  Books are protected at the bottom of the box with the soft t-shirt at the top.  In between, is a nice little collectible. Upon unboxing, I was instantly excited as I saw Judge Dredd looking at me from the t-shirt included in this box.

Here is a look at all of the items from inside the January Comic Block!

Comic Block includes a card to explain the contents of the subscription box.

It looks like a Judge Dredd kind of month which is a good thing with the movie and television future looking a bit murky.  I’m glad we still have the comic books!

I Am The Law Judge Dredd Shirt: Opening up the shirt to see the full picture did not disappoint.  I really like the look of Dredd pointing his weapon and letting it be known where he stands with regards to the law.

Judge Dredd #1 – Variant Cover ($3.99 for the retail cover) Comic Block is known for including first issues in their subscription boxes and January 2016 is no different.  IDW is now the publisher of Judge Dredd and, included in this box is an exclusive Comic Block cover.  Brought to you by the team of Ulises Farinas, Erick Freitas and Dan McDaid.

Batman and Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles #1 ($3.99) DC Comics and IDW team up to bring the crossover we deserve.  Batman and the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles are together for six issues and Comic Block gets it started with issue one.  Written by James Tynion IV and art by Freddie Williams II.

Scarlet Witch #1 ($3.99) Scarlet Witch has her own series written by James Robinson and includes art by Vanessa Del Rey and Jordie Bellaire.  I’ve heard great things about this first issue of this new series from Marvel Comics.  I will be reviewing Batman/TMNT and Judge Dredd for my website where I post my comic book reviews.  There is currently a review of Scarlet Witch #1 by one of my co-bloggers here.

Superman Magnet Set: Comic Block also included a set of magnets – one with Superman and the other with his arch-nemesis Lex Luthor.  Both are great for keeping important papers and treasured pieces of art on your refrigerator.

In all, Comic Block is an absolutely remarkable value.  The three comics were $3.99 each with one comic having an exclusive cover from Comic Block and it cannot be found anywhere else.  Throw in the t-shirt and the magnets and the value is well over the $19.99 monthly cost. For someone like me who loves comic books and t-shirts, this is an incredible value.  If you want to sneak a peek at the franchises for next month, see the January 2016 Comic Block spoilers!
