Pizza Time for January’s Bramble Box! Bramble Box is a monthly subscription box sending imaginative play kits to kids every month. You’ll get fun gender neutral play kits around a theme every month that will inspire your kids to creatively explore. Play, role play, and pretend play are all essential to achieving developmental milestones.
The packaging has been updated. It used to be a relatively plain box with a sticker of the fox logo — now the box has printed graphics of the fox logo and images of some of the dress-up themes.
Bramble Box always comes neatly wrapped in tissue. We were happy to see that the fox is still part of Bramble Box’s look.
The theme for January was Pizzeria!
The box came with all the basics needed to set up shop.
Bramble Box is good at making sure that pretend pay incorporates some useful skills and opportunity for learning. The Pizza kit includes a menu with room for pricing, order sheets, and money. The kids are encouraged to assigned prices to the pies and various toppings, so they can add up the total when an order is placed. This is a fun (and a little sneaky) way to practice addition and introduce multiplication.
Enough toppings were included to create several beautiful pies. The mini table cloth was a nice touch, adding some authentic pizza parlor ambience.
The food theme makes practicing money skills less daunting. I could never get my son to sit down and practice counting coins and making change, but he enjoyed buying pizzas!
The dry-erase menu allows you to change prices as often as you’d like — this is handy for adjusting the difficulty level of calculating the costs of orders.
Even without the money, the order forms entertained the kids for quite a while. They placed and filled orders.
Parents had to place orders, too — someone had to order the mushrooms and green peppers! We cut one of our pies into quarters (as the box suggested). The kids had fun dressing up slices of pizza, and we got to practice working with fractions.
Thankfully, the felt used for the pizza toppings is washable!
This kit was a lot of fun for the kids. They love pizza, so this was a perfect theme to hold their interest. The pieces store very compactly, so this kit will become a fun part of their play kitchen and continue to get lots of use.
