Birchbox Man January 2016 Subscription Box Review & Coupon

The January 2016 Birchbox Man was themed REBOOT —  it celebrates the annual opportunity for re-dedication and improvement that comes with the new year.  Birchbox Man is a monthly grooming and lifestyle subscription for men. You’ll receive 3-4 samples, plus a lifestyle item. Boxes are $20 per month and you’ll earn points for reviewing the items in the box. You can earn 110 points ($11 in the shop) for picking up a yearly subscription. This is a great deal.

PLANT Rice & Clean Gentle Facial Cleanser ($3):: fortified with Vitamin E, Rice & Clean uses the traditional Japanese ingredient of powdered rice to provide a gentle, yet effective cleanser.  Organic chamomile imparts a gentle and calming scent.

Pankhurst London Moulding Cream ($6? no size on jar):  With a very light and bright scent, this moulding cream provides steady, but non-crisping hold.  Textured like shea butter, but with a slightly waxy, tacky feel, it blends readily into hair, lending form, but no discernible coating.

Ursa Major Fortifying Face Balm ($4.87? no size):  Non-greasy and fast-absorbing, Ursa Major’s face balm has a slightly minty scent.  Aloe, carrot, kendi, and myrtle are among the all-natural ingredients.

Marvis Toothpaste ($1.4):  Marvis toothpaste is one of my favorite finds from Birchbox.  Made in Italy, it has a thick consistency.  While not gritty, it is much better at blasting off tartar than thinner gels, and it leaves my teeth feeling polished and clean.  I love the texture and the flavor.  I usually use their mint flavor, but this unusual blend of cinnamon mint is excellent.  The two flavors combine quite well.

Octovo Valet Tray ($60):  My lifestyle item — this tray is well-designed, both functional and handsome.  The exterior is slightly shiny leather, while the interior has a thin coating of felt.  I like the noise deadening qualities of the felt — it adds a nice damper if used for coins and keys.  The snaps at the corners can be undone to transform the tall-sided tray into a larger, shallow one.  Undoing them also allows the tray to lay flat, making it more easily packed for travel, providing a nice staging area for the contents of your dop kit.

Birchbox is one of the most popular grooming and lifestyle subscriptions for a reason — the quality and value is always great.  I regularly use other products from Ursa Major and Marvis, but this is my first time seeing the particular items included in this box — I love that Birchbox finds a way to provide new products and experiences while sourcing from familiar and dependable brands.
