The snacks are carefully packed and neatly wrapped in tissue.  It looks beautiful, and due to the careful manner in which the box is packed, we’ve had everything survive shipping in pristine condition so far.

This edition of Treats brought us to Germany.  The box included a nice welcome card with an arial view of a Christmas scene.

The first layer of goodies…

…And the second layer.   There is really a lot in here!  The careful packing extends beyond the tissue.  All the contents are arranged in the box in a very meticulous fashion.  The box is packed absolutely full which means you get as many treats as can fit, and they don’t shift around, so the treats are better protected from shipping damage.

Treats Box Germany December 2015 reviewEverything in the box.  A veritable bounty of Treats!  Each Treats box has a slightly different balance of items, depending on what kind of snacks the locals like.

Lorenz NicNacs: These are just super great and I do not understand why they aren’t the most popular snack in America, because I could plow through bags and bags of them a week.  Peanuts are covered in a crispy shell that’s sort of covered with a mildly spicy seasoned salt. They’re completely addictive and I’ve had to really control myself to make them last.

Treats Box Germany December 2015 haribo

Haribo Smurf Gummies: SMURFS! or SCHLÜMPFE! I love saying that. These smurfs are blue and have white hats, except for Papa Smurf of course! They’re strawberry and raspberry flavored and very tasty and gummy. Perfect for a holiday box from Germany, and of course Haribo is the most famous and best quality gummy manufacturer in the world.

Treats Box Germany December 2015 pomsticks

Lorenz Pomsticks in Sour Cream: I don’t know that I’ve ever had flavored potato sticks! These have a pretty mild taste, and they weren’t wildly different than American potato sticks, except they weren’t sold in a can. This is actually a big bag – a really big one – and outlasted our 1000 mile drive this week.

Treats Box Germany December 2015 chocolates

Kinder Bueno: Kinder is made by Ferrero (see info below) and this bar has a wafer outside, filled with hazelnut cream, and covered in chocolate. They are popular worldwide!

Milka Choco Cow: I honestly thought these would be somewhat generic cookies dipped in chocolate, but they were pretty amazing – the biscuit itself is very crispy and tasty, and they are dipped in milk chocolate made with alpine milk. Great treat!

Ferrero Hanuta Hazelnut Wafers: I could also eat these daily!!! There is a really great, high quality gianduja (chocolate hazelnut) filling with hazelnut bits sandwiched between two cocoa wafers. I’ve never had these before and they are just fantastic. Ferrero of course is an Italian company but its Germany factory is its largest, probably because Germans are crazy about chocolate, and rightfully so.

Treats Box Germany December 2015 crunchies

Lorenz Paprika Crunchips: These are pretty addictive and delicious, with a sweet smoky flavor of the paprika combined with a bit of cheese! It is the most popular flavor of this major German snack manufacturer. Super crunchy! All of their flavors look good!

Treats Box Germany December 2015 kinder milk

Kinder Chocolate: These are a super popular bar and I’ve had them many times – they are an outer milk chocolate filled with a creamy milk filling, but I have never heard to freeze them and try them that way. We still have a couple of these left, and I’ll be doing just that! These chocolates are unabashedly marketed to kids (look at that package!), or rather, moms, telling us that there are no artificial colors, there’s only 70 calories, and showing a big glass of milk. Yep, it’s really just like giving your kid a glass of milk.

I loved this month (and who wouldn’t?). I’m very pleased with any international snack subscription that focuses on the most accessible countries for their December box, as I expect that many of them were (or will be) given as Christmas gifts. For my family we particularly enjoy that a multi-pack treat is included in every box, as it gives all of us a chance to sample the same treat once or twice apiece! Everything in this particular box was really top-notch and we loved eating everything!
