SumoJerky Subscription Box Review + Coupon

SumoJerky is a monthly beef jerky subscription featuring surprise flavors from different beef jerky artisans. All jerkies included in this subscription are minimally processed and preserved. The flavors in this subscription range from mild to spicy.

We received 6 bags of jerky. We’d ordered one bag with the freebie deal, but they knew it was us and added all 6 monthly flavors, which is $39.50 + shipping. This price is comparable to other jerky subscriptions – you really have to try them and find which curator you love!

Righteous Felon O.G. Hickory ($10) This one wasn’t our favorite! The hickory flavor was really quite strong and we prefer the spicy flavors from this brand, which we have sampled pretty often and enjoy. A very woody flavor.

Righteous Felon Che-Potlé Guevara ($10) Assertively spicy, this recipe is slightly smoky.  The onion and garlic shine through the even heat.  I’ve seen this variety a few times in other boxes.  The spice is nice, but not off there charts hot.  This is a firmer and chewier style of jerky.

Righteous Felon Halo Diablo ($10) We didn’t take this one on our trip (we didn’t think it was the best idea for the car, because it sounded really spicy!

This sinfully delicious “Imperial Habanero” is dosed with Saint Lucifer’s Habanero/Garlic dry spice at two different stages of the jerking process – once during marinade and once during smoking – creating a unique spice flavor that is similar in heat to the Habanero Escobar, but very different from a flavor perspective.

Katie’s Half Heat Beef Jerky (2 packs – $16) Half heat is a pretty good descriptor for this one – it’s somewhat spicy but not really! It sort of had a cured meat taste, somewhat sausagey in comparison to the other brands. Good!

Katie’s Teriyaki Beef Jerky ($6) This was sweet and soy saucey and also very tender. Both flavors of Katie’s jerky featured nice large and thick slabs of beef.

You really cannot go wrong with a box of jerky half full of Righteous Felon, one of the best and most popular craft brands! We’d never tried the Katie’s before and liked that one too.  Now we really want to try more of the Katie’s flavors. It’s worth noting, as always, that most of the jerkies that appear in jerky subscriptions are very pricey and come with substantial shipping fees. If you’re a jerky fan jerky subscriptions can offer really significant savings. We got way more than the price of this box in jerky (about $52) and were really happy with this box!
