SumoCrate is a new monthly protein-centric snack subscription box. Every month you’ll receive 8-10 protein snacks with an average of 10-20 grams of protein. This box may be suitable for anyone that needs to focus on protein in their diet, including those with blood sugar control issues, bariatric patients, low carbers, and people who just focus on protein as a central part of their overall wellness plan.
Snacks! Protein! There was no information card in this box.
Everything in the box!
Tanka Bar – Buffalo Meat with Cranberries and Pepper Blend – Spicy Pepper: Meat bar! Lean and meaty, with some spiciness as well. I love keeping these in my desk for an emergency lunch – no more trips to the vending machine for me when I have a meat bar. This one has no artificial nitrites (it uses celery juice as a preservative) and it brings the heat with jalapenos and habaneros. 7 g protein, 7 g carbs
Epic Bison Bar with Bacon & Cranberry: Buffalo combined with uncured bacon! I love how they included these two similar (but very different) buffalo & cranberry bars – perfect for comparing. You can see that there’s bacon in this one for sure. Like the Tanka bar, no nitrates or nitrites. It’s not spicy, just uncured natural bacon, tender cranberries, and tender bison. 11 g protein, 10 g carbs.
FlapJacked Cinnamon Apple Mighty Muffin with Probiotics: For this one you add some water, mix in the cup, and nuke for 35 seconds, resulting in a yummy muffin! It’s packed with cinnamon for blood sugar, gluten-free oats, real apple pieces, and cinnamon melty bits! This was really great! 20 g protein, 24 g carbs.
Lara Bar – Apple Pie: I was surprised by this bar because it’s not protein focused at all – it’s honestly mostly sugar. However, it’s lower glycemic as the sugar does come from dates, raisins, and apples. They might have explained their choice on an information card, so I am unsure why it was chosen. 4 g protein, 18 g carbs.
SquareBar – Chocolate Coated Mint: Non-GMO, organic, and gluten-free. Chocolate, peppermint oil and brown rice crisps – plant-based protein! The peppermint is totally natural in this one (because it is!). 12 g protein, 23 g carbs
RXBar – Peanut Butter: This bar is absolutely amazing and I am going to buy more. I loved it. No bs and no whey so it doesn’t have that whey taste. Totally buying a lot more of these in all the flavors. The website says a lot of people buy these bars for their Whole30. 12 G protein, 23 g carbs.
Quest Nutrition Protein Powder – Peanut Butter Flavor: Quest is basically the cadillac of protein powders! You can do anything with it – shake it, mix it, bake it, and it’s really tasty. 23 g protein, 2 g carbs.
Justin’s Honey Peanut Butter Blend: Only dry roasted peanuts, honey powder, palm fruit and sea salt. I’m not a runner but isn’t this much better than a goo pack? I do tend to tuck these into my purse for a snack on the go – or in my kid’s lunchbox! 7 g protein, 7 g carbs
Pro Bar Base Mint Chocolate: Based on this GIANT bar that looked like those massive protein bars that taste terrible, I didn’t expect to like it, but I totally loved it. It has flax and chia seeds, crispies, a great minty flavor, loads of chocolate coating, and tons of protein! 20 g protein, 33 g carbs. This one also had quite a bit of sugar (17 g).
thinkThin High Protein & Fiber Bar in Milk Chocolate Toffee Almond: This is an extremely chewy and dense bar but it has a (surprisingly) great flavor! 13 g protein, 23 g carbs.
Quest Nutrition Protein Chips – Cheddar & Sour Cream: Quest chips are pretty much the gold standard for protein chips! They are pretty tasty for a whey based chip and these have a nice cheesy sour cream taste. These chips are love or hate, and for me it depends on the flavor. Loved these! 21 G protein, 5 g carbs.
This was a really awesome box – the kind of box I want shipped right to my office so I can have healthy snacks and meal replacements ready for my work day. This was (with the exception of the Larabar) a protein focused box, but not necessarily a low-carb or low-sugar box. I think the box could benefit from a brief info card about why they selected each item, but it’s not a huge deal, especially as I found most of the items really tasty and easy to incorporate into my meal plan because they were all focused on protein. Loved it.

Boxes must vary. This is not the box I got today. :-/
Can you post a pic in the directory entry?
Actually, The boxes do not vary. I talked to Ian at SumoCrate. The box you reviewed is the November Box. He said he sent them late Nov/Early Dec & forgot to mention it was November’s box, not December’s. What I received was December’s. Also a good box. 🙂
Thank you for the update!!! I’m glad to hear that it was good!!!
