There was an extra letter this month thanking subscribers for their business!orange glad december 2015 review

All the sweets! I was surprised to find no inner packaging, although nothing really needed it, it does add to the presentation, which used to be quite fussy.

This is not actually a theme – every month says “Let the Adventure Begin.” Because every month is a sweets and desserts adventure!

Mill Fudge Factory Belgian Chocolate Fudge: The box arrived after the enjoy by date on this confection. I’m really not sure what happened so I won’t speculate, but my husband happily glommed nearly the entire thing in his face 10 days after that. It was cocoa-ey and had those fudgey sugary crystals (I’m not a fudge aficionado – how does one describe fudge?).

Clairesquares Shortbread & Caramel Dark Chocolate Square:  Orange Glad tends to feature a lot of shortbread but we absolutely loved this twist! The caramel is darker and gooey and the entire thing is topped off with dark chocolate. This was excellent. (Now, let’s move on to another sweet please, we have reached the pinnacle of shortbread!).

PopBar – Milk Chocolate: We have amassed enough PopBars over the past month to have a Popbar party! Just stir in warm milk and it turns into rich and decadent hot cocoa!

Donsuemor Meyer Lemon Nonnettes: These are basically sugar glazed slightly lemony donut hole versions of madeleines. They’re sweet and moist and super delicious! Like a gourmet munchkin!

orange glad december 2015 IMG_2443 orange glad december 2015 IMG_2442Sweet Lydia White Chocolate S’more: I saved this for our road trip and had intended to let Tom (a white chocolate freak) eat the entire thing, but after I sampled it I ate about half, because it was amazing! The grahams were soft and the marshmallow was pillowy and the whole thing was amazing! It was almost like a whoopee pie. A very fancy one! The white chocolate coating is very sweet and thick and not at all like regular white chocolate, which I typically liken to eating wax.

I really enjoyed several of the items in this box, and overall it was solid. However, I’d like Orange Glad to look beyond shortbread for its fallback dessert and concentrate a little more on the packaging and making sure items arrive by their best by dates!

I totally agree about the shortbread. I don’t like shortbread and the sheer quantity of shortbreads in every box caused me to unsubscribe. It’s probably easy to ship with a decent shelf life but I feel like dessert boxes like these seem to get in a rut, dealing with a few brands and types of treats. Treatsie has the same problem (or did while i was subscribed).

This shortbread thing is way out of control.
