Olfactif December 2015 Subscription Box Review

 Olfactif is a monthly fragrance discovery subscription box. You’ll get 3 samples in your box, each containing 15-20 “wears” of an independently designed perfume. With every box, your account will be credited with an $18 voucher to use on fragrances from the store. Olfactif‘s focus is on niche fragrance, so you’ll see different & unique scents, higher quality and hard-to-find ingredients. They offer both a unisex version (this one!) as well as a traditionally masculine version.

There’s a card that comes with each collection to remind you to keep smelling to understand the artist’s scent story.

Olfactif has the most unique & awesome packaging. I adore the slide-out box.

smolder (\’smōl-der\): to burn slowly without flames but usually with smoke.

Have you ever looked closely at a burning coal? At the center, it looks for all the world like a cool black rock. But the edges, alive with an otherworldly glow, tell the real story. The fire doesn’t leap into flames, but it is fire nonetheless.

These three perfumes (and one candle) smolder with a quiet warmth and faint tendrils of smoke that curl into the air. This month, may your homes be just as full of heat—from candles, from the hearth, from the embrace of those you love.

Olfactif December 2015: Smoldering

• Scent Intense by Costume National: This one has a sharp intense hit of amber and woods when you spray it on, and it softens and really brings out the jasmine tea notes in this perfume. It’s actually a really unique scent and I think you’ll give off a smoky whiff when you wear it.
• Otis & Me by Jazmin Saraï: This fragrance is inspired by the Otis Redding song “Cigarettes and Coffee.” While you won’t really smell butts in this one, it does reflect his soul in this song! It has definite incense undertones that stay fresh throughout.
• Laudano Nero by Tiziana Terenzi: This is a fragrance that’s very hard to describe, because it’s packed with different scents that rise and fall as you wear it. It is inspired by “a rainy day in a mystical Paris, where the colors of the city appear like a Renoir painting and a small fire at a crossroads of Montmartre heats musicians and acrobats that await tourists after the rain.” So if you can imagine that as a scent, this is it.

Some boxes tell a story through the three scents, but this box presented 3 different smoldering scent stories to enjoy separately.  I love Olfactif’s themes and the scent journey they lead me on each month.  Every box has been 100% different than the last and I always look forward to a new monthly experience with Olfactif!
