Little Loving Hands December 2015 box

Little Loving Hands  is a monthly subscription box that contains a hands-on craft idea for children to make while learning about and supporting a philanthropic cause.  One very unique and noteworthy aspect of this box is that the crafts your children create are sent to the highlighted charity — you get to spend time crafting with your kids without accumulating too many crafty items.

This month’s craft is a hand-stitched search and seek activity bag.  The recipient children will search for objects hidden among the beans, as viewed through a plastic window, using  clue cards to tell them what to search for.

This particular craft was great for both our kids.  The stitching was simple, and both kids could pick out items to include in the search. There was an optional activity – dying the beans – that we skipped, because we were at Grandma’s house and didn’t want her to have a conniption.

The finished bag is cute and a self-contained activity.  The best part is that you don’t keep it, but send it away to help kids in need.

We think this box has a really great concept.  It teaches kids about charity, while providing a great activity and opportunity for learning and growth.  Also very cool is the sending away of the completed crafts — an anti-clutter measure that is much-appreciated in our craft-intensive home. The kids loved creating something for other children who are in need!
