Gentleman’s Box December 2015 Subscription Box Review & Coupon

Gentleman’s Box is a monthly men’s subscription box – including the required essentials for the savvy man. While every box previously included a copy of GQ, it will now be delivered separately to subscribers, but is still included.  Boxes contain selected items ranging from style to grooming.  Each month honors a male archetype that may or may not bring an actual celebrity to mind.   

The new square box is more conducive to neat wrapping of the contents.

This month is dedicated to “Our Favorite Maverick”- Tom Cruise!  Instead of the simple informational card in previous boxes the subscription now includes an entire booklet, “The Gentlemen’s Post.”  The expanded format allows a little more praise and info on the honoree.

The Post includes a new curator’s letter, information on the inspiration, the contents, details on every item, and the Gentleman’s Tip for the month. They also added an interview with a Gentleman’s Box subscriber.  The new box makes for a neater presentation — and no more rolled GQs!

 Also, there is more room for style guides, tips, and other cool extra features that didn’t make it onto the card.

Gentleman’s Box partnered with Knots Apparel to provide a tie inspired by Water for Waslala’s mission to end the water crisis in Waslala Nicaragua.

Here’s everything in this month’s box except the copy of GQ ($6), now mailed separately to subscribers.

Knots Apparel Buffalo Check Necktie ($75 on the card, $50 on the site, on sale for $40) Said to be inspired from the materials, colors, and fabrics of the Central American landscape, this looks like a pretty standard North American buffalo check necktie, but I love the pattern for the holidays! I didn’t take a photo of the underside, which features Knots Apparel’s signature infinity knot – you can see it here. Silliness of the inflated price aside, Tom loved this necktie (he’s down for the count with a virus) and was really happy about it – and it’s still a rather pricey tie that supports and highlights important humanitarian work.

Unsimply Stitched Herringbone Socks ($12) Tom has said this before about this brand – I really like the socks.  They actually fit my feet (lots of manufacturers think the heel pad should go mid-calf for some reason).

This is high praise!

The Tie Maker Wing Tie Clip ($25) I thought this Top Gun inspired tie clip was a pretty awesome choice!

The metal is a nice gunmetal color and it adds some style while remaining traditional.

DeadSoxy Shoe Laces ($6) These match the socks in the box pretty nicely, and colored shoelaces are a great way to add some expression to the typical male uniform.

Skinny Tie Madness Pocket Square ($15) This features a brushed cotton finish with a really great microstripe. I dare say that it’s soft enough that one could use it as an actual handkerchief. Nobody really mentions it anymore, but hankies are eco-friendly.

Dr. Squatch Pine Tar Soap Bar (bonus!) This has a super woodsy and manly man scent but also happens to be totally gentle and natural and moisturizing.

This was a really excellent holiday/Christmas-time box from Gentleman’s Box! If you’re looking to gift a monthly box of upgraded style and necessaries for men, Gentleman’s Box has a nice certificate you can print off as well (or email!).  Even using the on-sale price of the tie, the total value of this box was still $98, which is really fantastic for a $25 box (they promise “only” three times the purchase price in value). I didn’t even include the GQ in that price!
