It is Stitch Fix time! December is the time for giving gifts…to myself? I’ll admit it, I am totally the person who takes advantage of the season’s sales to pick things up for myself. I may have gone a little crazy getting discounted polish from Julep…  So of course it is a great time for me to have fun with a Fix!

Shopping at Home!
Unwrapped!

Stitch Fix is a personal styling service. Your stylist will send you 5 pieces based on your profile for you to try on at home! There are no coupons for Stitch Fix but if you hit the jackpot and keep everything, you save 25% on your whole fix (read below for details).

Here’s how Stitch Fix works: fill out your style profile! This includes style, budget, what you’re looking for, and you can get as detailed as you want with the notes to your stylist. It really really does help to provide notes to what you’re seeking, and a Pinterest board if you have one.  You will be charged a $20 styling fee and shipped five items to try on at home. If you keep anything your styling fee will be applied to your order, but if you don’t, you will pay the $20 fee. This is so worth it. If you keep everything you get a 25% discount, so it pays off to be specific. You will check out and get charged through your Stitch Fix account. Every box includes a set of styling cards with suggestions on how to wear the particular item. There’s usually a dressed up and dressed down version for each piece of clothing.

Note From Stylist

See how nice the stylists are? I have been asking for a kelly green cardigan (I have a lot of bright colors, but somehow, no green). Alas, they don’t have one.

Some ideas for styling!

Ignoring my crazy hair (seriously, no idea what is going on up there), this one is pretty cute. I am not a big fan of horizontal stripes, but my boy said he likes this one on me.  The fabric is nice and soft, not sheer (I am not into sheer!), and the leather trim on the v was soft and flexible.

Pixley Yuli Lace Cap Sleeve Blouse – $68

This is my favorite of the bunch. Even though I am not super into lace, I do like black, and textured black is a more interesting way to wear it than plain.  I had asked for a black top with details, so my stylist listened!

Sorry for the blu-ish filter. I wanted to show some detail. Or my lack of ironing.

Absolutely Mariella Open Cardigan – $58

I didn't exactly try to create a realistic outfit. Forgive me.

I didn’t think my hair could get worse, but it did. Oops.  I tossed this one on over the Pixley lace top – I promise I have better sense than to wear all of this paired with brown boots.

I am not a pastel person, not a fussy person, and not really much of a pink person. This one is going back. I do think it fit nicely – I might have considered keeping it if it were black or dark grey, even with the fussiness of the knit.

It is actually a pretty nice pattern, but it really isn’t my style.

Adrianna Papell Claudette Dress – $98

Does anyone have a party I can go to?

Adrianna Papell Claudette Dress

I felt pretty good in this dress, and I do think $98 is a good price for Adrianna Papell. I have owned several dresses by this designer, and they are always flattering.  The material is a super soft jersey – almost like a t-shirt. The color looks a little faded up close, presumably intentionally.

Just Black Faye Skinny Jean – $88

Faye Skinny Jean

Stitch Fix has been doing a good job of sending me cute tops and some dresses that work on me.  I let them know when I signed up that I am a 14/16 on top, and a 16/18 on the bottom.  Their largest size listed when you do your style profile is 14, so I had said that sending me bottoms might not be worth it unless they start carrying larger sizes.  I had also happened to pin olive skinny jeans on my Stitch Fix Pinterest board, though, so my stylist sent me these.  This is the first time I have been disappointed with my fix. They sent a size 32, which roughly translates to a 14, if you’re being generous. There is no way these were ever going to fit. But, I have no shame, so, here is a photo of them from behind.  OK, I do have some shame, because there is no front photo.

Sorry it’s blurry. I will blame the boy, who was co-opted to be photographer against his will.

The material was thin, so these would be good for warmer months or under boots. I am 5’10, usually a 33″ inseam, so these puppies are pretty long. I will say, if they were a size or so bigger, I probably would have kept them. I love charcoal grey, so these would go well with a lot of things in my wardrobe.

Checkoutslip

This time around, the black top may end up being the only winner, but even it gets me out of my comfort zone, since I don’t typically grab anything lace.  It’s nice to see things that I wouldn’t necessarily reach for in a store, because, let’s face it, I go to the same sections of the same stores, so my variety is lacking.

I hope everyone is getting ready for a fantastic holiday! I am looking forward to more fun with friends and family. I just got to visit Brandy and accidentally be featured in her Star Wars review (and also take a look at a Dia & Co box, which I am trying next – plus size personal styling), so now it is time to fly home to see my parents and brother. May the force be with you!
