Bramble Box is a monthly subscription box sending imaginative play kits to kids every month. You’ll get fun gender neutral play kits around a theme every month that will inspire your kids to creatively explore. Play, role play, and pretend play are all essential to achieving developmental milestones.
Bramble Box always comes neatly wrapped in tissue.
The October theme for this box was “Bramble’s School of Wizardry” and it included items and instructions for creating your very own wizard outfit and conducting experiments. The instructions are either for the caregiver or for an older child that can read, and included tons of fun ideas.
Everything included in the October box! Sometimes there are more props and less crafts, this month was more crafts to create the props instead of ready-made props.
The instructions are very clear and easy to follow. The booklet contains information on the materials for the project and additional activities.
The wizard hat is is pre-printed on the shiny project paper. An adult helper may be useful for cutting it out and to help tape it together.
A couple stars are used to make the magic wand, and the rest are reserved for the cape and cap.
Materials are provided for conduction “magical” experiments. The Gel crystals absorb 400 times their weight in water, growing greatly. The color tabs fizz and dissolve, dying the water bright colors. Test tubes with caps are provided to contain the gel and tabs.
The Wizard’s Activity Book has lots of stuff to do, but every wizard needs an outfit. The silky cape has a velcro clasp in the front.
Our son has had a terrible respiratory illness, but is feeling a lot better. Although his big sister usually claims Bramble Box, he decided that it was all his! The colorful self-adhesive stars turn a handsome blue cape into a true wizard’s cape.
A few stars even made their way on to the cap.
The activities were very simple and needed only a little water from home. He was so excited!
The test tubes were great to have in the kit. They contained the mess and allowed the kids to view the experiments without tying up a big dish. Big sister helped pour in the crystals.
The bat included in the kit received a fair bit of attention, too.
The activities were simple enough that both our kids could do their part.
The wizard’s handbook helps introduce elements of the scientific method, encouraging the young wizards to make predictions before mixing the ingredients and to record observations afterward.
The magic wand helps the magic work, of course.
The gel crystals and [blue] fizzy tablet in action. We shook up the tube to see what would happen. This experiment used some oil (from home) and it was interesting watching the oil and water separate out!
Our son loved the wizard outfit so much!
He danced through the house in full wizard gear, wand in hand.
This one was such a fun box with really excellent crafts that made great play props – and the wizard theme was just awesome. We love that we get to create and then pretend play and explore some scientific or other learning concepts with this box. It is the only box that we still have every single item that we’ve ever made, because they’re reused all the time. Bramble Box excels in encouraging open-ended creative play.
