The Fabrics

7 fat quarters of Blue Hill Fabrics Retro 30’s Floral fabrics in purple, yellow, green, pink, red, dark blue and light blue ($18.99) If you’re not a quilter, a fat quarter is 1/4 of a yard of fabric, except it’s not cut like you would for regular sewing, it’s cut into quarters. They’re preferable for quilting so you can maximize your quilt piecing.  These are reminiscent of feedsacks but are more modern – I love the ones with the circles! This is a brand new Fall 2015 collection.

I love how the collection sheet was included so you can discover matching fabrics – maybe for a backing – that you need to finish your project!

1 Charm pack of Lecien Retro 30’s Child Smile ($5) Charm squares are 5″x5″ and there are tons of different charm square patterns out there, but you can also use them for embellishing or crazy quilting! This is a gorgeous little line! I’d never heard of Lecien but they’re a Japanese fabric line.

The Notions

Thread Heaven ($5.52) Thread Heaven is a thread lubricant and conditioner and I’m super excited about this because I was going to buy some. I’ve never tried it but it’s supposed to be 100% fabric and thread safe. It’s some sort of nontoxic non degrading polymer that keeps those threads plumped and in perfect shape. Excellent for handwork.

Mettler Silk Finish 547 Yards, 50 Weight 100% Cotton Quilting Thread In Candlewick ($6.59) This is a soft mercerized cotton thread with a silk-finish.  This thread is colorfast, fade and shrink resistant, boil proof, and suitable for machine and hand sewing.

Clover Stacking Patchwork Pins ($4.75)

Clover Stacking Applique Pins ($6.50)

These are perfect for taking your WIP on the go. Every pin has its own use and there are ones for patchwork and ones for applique. I liked the nifty stacking cases.

The Pattern

Butterflies And Posies Pattern By Tamison Designs ($10) You can use this pattern to highlight the cutest parts of the included fabrics, or use up your stash! The vintage style matches the fabrics, too.

I omitted the actual pattern from the photo – but I wanted to show that they give really nice embroidery ideas for finishing the quilt.

This is a great box! The total value was around $58 and it was packed with fun stash-building supplies. I loved that the fabrics were coordinating, and that a pattern was selected that would highlight the features and styles of the fabrics. The notions were all high quality and were top-notch versions of every day quilting items.  This would make a great gift for any quilter too!
