Marvel Collector Corps is a bi-monthly subscription from Marvel Comics in partnership with Funko. Boxes are $25 plus shipping and there are no coupons. The box promises $50 in value every box, plus every item is a 100% exclusive item. When this box launched, they stated that boxes will contain one of four exclusive shirt designs, 1 stylized vinyl collectible, and 2 premium accessories. However, I’ve noticed that the past couple of boxes have a shirt, 2 Funko vinyl figures, and a comic book.
The box has a really great comics design both inside and out.
Every box includes a collector’s patch and pin.
Everything in the October 2015 Marvel Collectors Corps box. The theme was Villains!
The patch and pin this month are Red Skull (the head of HYDRA!) and Green Goblin.
The exclusive shirt is a Marvel Villains shirt. It’s nice and soft and I love how everything is labeled (because I’m not very good at naming the villains!). It does say Funko on the neck, but by and large this is a straight up Marvel shirt. I haven’t seen any variations on the shirt this month. No logo on the sleeve and I’ve definitely heard some complaints about the lack of color.
Invincible Iron Man #1 Variant Cover ($3.99) The cover is exclusive to the box, and this is due out in December. The comics now come bagged and boarded (though it’s a very thin bag – I think the idea is to actually read it!).
Exploding out of the pages of SECRET WARS, one of the most popular super heroes in the world gets a gigantic new series. From the creators that brought you ULTIMATE SPIDER-MAN comes new armor, new supporting cast, new villains and a new purpose that is going to tear itself across the entire Marvel Universe and beyond. With a shocker of a last page that will have everyone talking and the return of one of Tony’s biggest nemesis, you will not want to miss this!! Also, who are Tony’s biological parents? The quest begins here!
(shot of the cover without bag) I don’t really want to spoil the ending for everyone, but the last page is why it was in the Villains box…
Funko Pop! Marvel Zombie Morbius Figure: From Marvel Zombies, and perfect for October. For some reason Morbius is a zombie vampire. I can’t say I know why, but it’s excellent Halloween decor if you’re not into it otherwise. It’s nice to see this box delving into the back catalog a bit more!
There is a variant of this one! The regular Morbius is floating around in a few boxes – did you get one? I definitely wish regular Morbius was in my box – he’s not quite so terrifying!
Funko Dorbz Loki: Oh man, they make them SO cute you cannot help but love a villain as a Dorbz! It’s so twisted. I will not be upset to see the next two movies with Loki! I think he is just a great character and growing more multifaceted (at least in the movies, I don’t know about the comics).
Just a little back detail.
Funko Pocket POP! Bobblehead keychain – Venom: I was SO surprised to pull this guy out of the box – a third vinyl figure! Such great detail on this little guy and great tongue action! I didn’t unscrew the top like I normally do, because my four year old doesn’t like scary things, so I finally get to keep a few, including this one!
This was a good box and I thought the curation was good – for the Villains box. Villains isn’t my personal favorite theme but the time to do it is definitely October if it’s going to happen, but I’m also guessing that true villains fans would have loved a Green Goblin exclusive Pop! It’s hard to please everyone, especially with a theme that doesn’t go squarely with one particular franchise. I was really happy with the timing of this box coinciding with Halloween and suspect that my husband will grab the shirt for his Halloween costume. I’m really excited for the December box – it’s the box arriving for the holidays and I imagine that it’s going to be amazing! See the December 2015 Marvel Collector Corps theme reveal spoilers here.
