lootcrate october 2015 box

Loot Crate‘s theme for October was TIME.    Loot Crate is the original subscription box for geeks & gamers. Every month you’ll get awesome geeky items curated around a central theme. One of the things I love about this box is that it’s only $20 per month – a super affordable geeky fix with a subscriber base so gigantic that every box is full of really awesome geeky items – many of which are exclusive to this subscription (and not just oh, it will be released later – actual exclusive items you’ll only get in this box!). You can save $3 on any Loot Crate subscription with code SAVE3 or save 10% on a longer subscription plan with promo code HELLOSUBSCRIPTION (perfect for the new annual subscription).

Party on Dudes! I love that Rufus is in there. And everything (but no Station???).

All the items in the October box!

Every Loot Crate box comes with the mini mag and the monthly button.  There are interviews and fan stories inside the magazine, as well as details on all the products, and of course the button is a flux capacitor!

Some examples of what’s in the mini mag. They said they were trying out new things – but I didn’t see a big difference.

I love this. It would have been a great box item too (like one of those metal signs). Yes, they need to revisit this theme!

Doctor Who flow chart.

BBC Doctor Who Sonic Spork – Exclusive: I am not sure at all of the significance of the sonic spork! Spoons in general seem to have some sort of great significance to the series and in particular, “The Third Doctor once made a time flow analogue from a Moroccan burgundy bottle, spoons, forks, corks, key rings, tea leaves and a mug. (TV: The Time Monster).”

Back to the Future II Hoverboard – Exclusive: The Hoverboard came complete in a really fantastic matching gift box with a certificate of authenticity.

It “floats” on top of a mirror.  this is a crazy amazing item. I love it. I love it even more that the bottom has details that you can see in the mirror!

Funko POP! Vinyl Vigure Dr. Emmett Brown – Exclusive: While Funko has made a Dr. Brown POP!, it’s totally different than this one. This one is really just totally awesome.  He’s shown in this version with safety goggles and the clock tower cables. It’s really fantastic. Now we’re going to have to add Marty to the collection (and I think introduce the kids to this awesome franchise!).

And yes, he can totally ride the hoverboard!

Be Excellent To Each Other T-Shirt – Exclusive: I love love love this shirt. It’s totally excellent! It’s soft and perfect and embodies everything that makes Bill & Ted’s a fan favorite – it may have been cheesy and hokey and totally 80s, but who thinks it was a totally triumphant movie?  Nobody I know!

You know you have that guitar riff in your head (and if not, you are probably much younger than I am!).

Because it was fun to check it out, here’s a little roundup of Back to the Future Day tidbits!

October’s Loot Crate wasn’t just a themed box – it was just pure excellence! It was clear to me that the curation had some real heart in it and whomever selected the items was truly a fan. I was thrilled that I actually received my box on Back to the Future Day! FYI – you can find out more about supporting Parkinson’s research at the Michael J Fox Foundation site.
