Lick My Dip Subscription Box Review & Coupon – August 2015

Lick My Dip is a monthly subscription designed specifically for heat-seekers.  Every box has a table-sized bottle or the equivalent in smaller samples, as well as two or three super-hot food items.  This is not for the faint of heart — everything is really spicy!

The card taunts the subscriber, detailing the pain about to be endured.  Plus, you get a sticker to put on your shirt so the paramedics know what happened.

Everything in the August Lick My Dip box!  As promised, we received a table-size bottle and 2 snacks, plus a bag of peppers for cooking (or snacking, I guess, if you are insane).

Daddy Cool’s – Super Hot Nuts:  Much spicier than anticipated — these nuts have some sweet honey, and a whole lotta heat.  I recommend starting with one to acclimate and then eating a few at a time.  I liked these quite a bit, and you will get a lot of mileage out of a single bag, because these are not for popping by the handful.

Psycho Juice – Roasted Garlic Ghost:  I actually caught some really nice flavor from this sauce.  The garlic and pepper create a very full — almost hatch chili — savory note… and then the heat hits.  The very spicy ghost pepper creates a nice burn that will kick up anything.  This is not a sauce I would slather on my food, it’s definitely a sauce for sprinkling or mixing.  I sampled it straight up, and it didn’t kill me, but it was quite hot, and I didn’t detect those nice, delicate flavor notes after the first try.

Lick My Dip – Dried Pequin Chillies (for cooking):  Pequins have some nice citrus and nutty notes, but they are also very hot.  At 13-40 times the heat of a jalapeño, you will want to use these for cooking (or pickling, etc) only.

Mello Mallo – Chilli Chocolate Marshmallows:  Compared to the other items in the box, these are indeed mello.   The marshmallow has a great, sweet cocoa flavor and some pleasant heat to it, but the texture is the real standout quality — very soft and light, with an artisanal feel to them.

This was a great collection of spicy items.  The value is very good for those in England, as it ships free within its country of origin, and I would expect to pay the subscription price for the items at retail.  For U.S. subscribers, shipping is about a third of the total cost — consider it the cost of curation.  The quality of items is very high and this is more than just hot sauce, and this box unreservedly targets those that are not afraid of the hot stuff!
