bocandy august 2015 information
The info sheet has some background on each item, as well as a ballpark figure on the retail value — I’m not sure if this is a conversion of purchase price in country of origin, cost of purchase from specialty stores stateside, or if it is derived from allocating shipping costs to direct purchases.  Candy is not as cheap as it used to be, but if these are everyday treats, the prices seem a little higher than what I would expect.

bocandy august 2015 review

Everything in the August Box!  The box is fairly petite, but it arrives full to the top with treats.  Unfortunately, we missed out on the Cadbury Fruit Gums, as they were not in our box 🙁

ETi Crax:  These crunchy cracker sticks are 2/3 the length and slightly thicker than Pocky, and they have an herby, Italian style seasoning on them.  The seasoning is flavorful and not too salty.

Choward’s Guava:  The guava flavor is very authentic and tasty.  The little square have a nice al dente texture that is slightly less snappy than outward appearance would suggest.bocandy august 2015 IMG_6197

Milkita Milkshake Candy:  Dense and chewy, these have a slightly creamy taste.   They have a strong cantaloupe and honeydew melon flavor.  They look like a hard candy, but are much closer to a Starburst in texture.

Anise Hard Candies:  The texture is that of a classic hard candy lozenge, and the pieces will cling gently to your teeth when crunched.  The anise flavor is really nice in these — it’s gentler and more floral than the dark licorice usually made from the plant.

Peanut Butter Damys:  These are crumbly when bitten, almost like a hybrid between a butterscotch candy and the inside of a Butterfingers bar, with a similar sweet, buttery, peanut butter flavor.

Zotz: The outer coating is sweet blue raspberry hard candy, but inside is a sour foaming core that sizzles when cracked open.  It’s difficult to discern if the center has its own flavor other than sour, but the interaction between the two layers provides a fun flavor battle in your mouth.bocandy august 2015 IMG_6203

Bopenbeu:  This Bulgarian bar consists of very light and crispy white wafers layered with peanut butter spread.  The outside is coated with a thin, dark chocolate icing.  The outer coating is extremely melty, so this one can get messy!

Meisan Soda Candy:  This bizarre fizzy candy has little resemblance to soda apart from the PopRocks-like sizzle.  The flavor is actually much chicken broth.

Bocandy replaced the Cadbury Fruit Gums with a Kanjers Extra grote Stroopwafels! Extra grote and extra good!

This selection of candy was pretty good.  The breadsticks are odd for a “candy” box, but they are a really delicious snack nonetheless.  The Bar was good, and the soda candy was horrible.   The really nice surprise from this box was the selection of assorted hard candies.  They all had really great flavors and unique and unexpected, but truly enjoyable textures.  Bocandy is a decent value (particularly with a longer subscription), and it is a great way to get a sampling of candies you wouldn’t know to seek out on your own.
