mickey monthly july 2015 box

Mickey Monthly is a monthly Disney-themed subscription box. They offer snacks, souvenirs, and combo boxes with a mix of both types of items!. Mickey Monthly selects items from a large selection of WDW souvenirs and treats. We love Disney World and everything Disney and visit several times per year with our children, so I thought we would check this subscription out.

mickey monthly july 2015 unboxing

I honestly wasn’t wowed by the packaging! I really expected a lot more magic when I opened this box. I found out from their facebook page that they’ve grown really quickly and weren’t prepared for a subscriber influx. So I expect this to improve.

Everything in my July Mickey Monthly box, including the sticker they only hand out at the Parks and Resorts.

mickey monthly july 2015 treats

  • Chip & Dale Snack Company Mountain Mix
  • Minnie’s Bake Shop Graham Cookies
  • Goofy’s Candy Company Sour Character Gummies

So, try not to hate me when I tell you this, but these items sell on the aftermarket for $9-$12. These snacks have about a $30 value –  you can purchase them for less if you travel to Disney, buy tickets, and stomp around WDW all day.

I probably should have purchased the all souvenir box, because over half of the value of this box is in snacks that I’m not sure if we care are Disney themed.  But then again – not everyone goes on a Disney vacation a couple times a year (it’s the only place we go – we love it!). This would be a great way to announce a surprise vacation or just to keep your kids excited. I know my kids are going to be psyched about their cookies.

mickey monthly july 2015 tsum tsum

Tsum Tsum Plush – Cowboy Woody ($7.94) I am a Tsum Tsum freak and was excited to get this one.  Like I’m going to quit reviewing right now and go play until my eyes bleed. I have my husband, my kids, and my blogging friends hooked too (I am so sorry everyone). I don’t have any Tsum Tsum toys so I was personally happy about this one!

Blue Mickey Disney Parks Towel ($20)   This is a Disney Parks exclusive item and not available in the Disney Store

I thought this box was pretty good. I filled out the info with all my kids’ information and got a blue towel and some snacks, plus a Tsum Tsum (which I love). I was hoping for something a little more exciting than the towel, and I would love to see what other subscribers received (you can leave your own photo and review on the directory page!).  I received only one sticker when I have two big kids, whoops! Next time – two please!  There was almost $60 in value (see our note about the value of Disney-themed boxes specifically – this is perfectly acceptable for a Disney themed box and nobody should expect to receive tons of retail value in this type of box), so I pretty much got what I put into it which is actually more than I expected, but for a $60 package I expected a little more flair and curation – like fun packaging or gold tinsel stars. This is a newer box and as they grow, I am hoping to see a little more in that area and management of subscriber growth.

FYI – Mickey Monthly offers limited edition boxes first to subscribers, and then at 6pm Eastern on the first of every month.  Monthly Members will get exclusive access to buy early at 10am. The August LE box is Haunted Mansion themed – I know you’re dying to get in!

Are you going to be reviewing an August box? I’m curious to know what you received, as we were pretty disappointed with our box this month. Thanks!

I canceled it and got some boxes from the other new disney themed boxes. if you really want to see a review of the august box i could always do the no snacks one. i don’t think the value is there if you get the snacks unless that is your thing.

I totally agree. What other new Disney theme boxes are you referring to? We cancelled our Mickey Monthly subscription too

I have the list of them at the bottom of the post. I am in bed or I would link you. Also check the home page for news about the new official tsum tsum sub, which isn’t in the directory get.

If I didn’t already own the Haunted Mansion store or at least 75% of it, I would totally get that August Box.

I knew you already had it or I would have sent it to you directly. 🙂

I’ve not really every looked at this one I don’t think anyway. I agree with you what you got while good isn’t overly exciting. I’d be curios to see what maybe an all adult box got. I don’t eat a lot of those snacks so getting them sent to me is no good. I would love to get some of the park exclusive knick knacks and stuff like that.
