The August Hamptons Lane theme is “Fresh Grill.” Hamptons Lane is a fantastic foodie/gourmet subscription box perfect for everyone who loves to eat well and likes to have a hand in preparing their food. It doesn’t just deliver a few tasty morsels — Hamptons Lane curated boxes are great because they usually have some cool kitchen gadgets that enable you to recreate the deliciousness again and again. You get the equipment, the guidance, and some tasty gourmet accompaniments too!
For the past few months Hamptons Lane has been sending review boxes in a box that doesn’t look like what a subscriber receives. They’re now sending it just like you will receive it at your home, or how your gift recipient will receive it. Very nice!
Everything in the August box – and very much packaged with care. The sauces and rubs were thoughtfully anchored and encased with plastic to keep them safe in transit.
The information booklet has a new updated look and we love the booklet form – it’s sturdier and has extra lifestyle info in it!
The product descriptions are right in the booklet itself. Each item has its provenance and a little about its claim to fame.
The booklet also gives all the details on each item and lots of great tips for using every item in your box.
The booklet really empowers you to make the best use of your new items.
There are tons of recipes using the items in the box (4 more on the next 2 pages)! This month has tons of grill-friendly recipes and sides.
The booklet also contains some handy tips on picking out proteins and using the proper preparation and use of wood planks for grilling.
Smith Products Set of FireWire Bendable Grilling Skewers ($15): Really an ingenious invention. Kabobs are always a pain, because the meat needs to be cut and marinated before being skewered, so you are handling it twice. Fire Wire lets you marinade right on the wire, so you can go from counter to fridge to grill to table without fussing. The handle stays cool if left outside the grill. These also store easily, as they can be hung on a peg or nail.
Trio of Maple, Cedar, & Hickory Grill Planks ($15): Each wood has a preferred use, and the booklet gives all the details. Nice and sturdy, these are reusable and a really simple way to add an extra level of flavor to your grilling.
Lillie’s Q Carolina BBQ Sauce ($8): We really loved the Ivory Sauce Lillie’s Q makes, and we have high hopes for this one too. This Western Carolina style sauce is tomato-based, with lots of vinegar (versus mustard or thick-sweet tomato sauces).
Elvio’s Gaucho Style Chimichurri Sauce ($17.50): Chimichurri is an Argentinian staple — it’s the go-to preparation in a beef-obsessed country. The recipe for Elvio’s was passed down from his Gaucho grandpa and is now made in the U.S.A. for our enjoyment. Really thick and packed with parsley and garlic.
Tom Douglas Rub with Love Salmon Rub ($6.50): I can tell that this stuff packs a deep, smoky flavor just from the rich color of the rub. From the kitchen at the famous Etta’s restaurant, this is born for salmon, but I’d wager it is awesome on new potatoes, fries, and roast veggies, too.
Hamptons Lane is one of my most looked forward to boxes. The food items are really great quality and would be hard to track down independently. What I really love, though, is the way each box stretches my arsenal of cooking tools. And the addition of a single new tool means dozens of new dishes to try! A really great hands-on gourmet experience.

This company has awful customer service. They don’t even list a phone number on their website (unheard of). They had been charging my account after I had cancelled and refused to return emails until I filed a fraudulent claim charge against them. Spread the word: this company is NOT to be trusted.
