Everything in my box this month.  I’ve shown everything unwrapped and assembled, but the viewer comes flat-packed, and the grooming items and mugs were lovingly wrapped in tissue and sealed with a decal.birchbox man august 2015 mugs

W&P Enamelware Camp Mug Set ($25):  I love camp mugs — they are light and nearly unbreakable, but the enamel coating creates a lip feel and and heat transfer similar to glass, making them great outdoor vessels for grown-up beverages.  The also make good cups for friends you don’t trust with your fine glassware! The farmhouse white body of the vessel is accented with a blue-black rim.

Thirdman Eau Profonde ($2.1):  Perhaps this fragrance fits the month’s theme because it pushes the boundaries of  what we consider a man’s cologne.  The light, fresh scent is citrus layered on amber.  It has a bright, sweet, and almost feminine edge to it… the kind of eau you would want to wear to a job interview at an all-female office so as to not seem overly andro — Best worn to brunch and baby showers.

Mayron’s Goods Mayron’s Junk Stuff ($6):  I think this speaks for itself.  Has the look, odor, and feel of diaper creme, but it absorbs readily, leaving a little lanolin-like feel.
Baxter of California Hydro Salve Hand Cream ($4.8):  Non-greasy and non-scented, this cream absorbs readily and leaves skin smooth and non-slippery.  I especially like the non-greasy aspect — I can use a doorknob, smartphone, etc., within seconds of applying without slipping or leaving a grease trail.

V76 by Vaughn Energy Wash Shower Gel ($2.50):  To hydrate, detoxify, and purify your skin.  Natural extracts of aloe, lavender, jojoba, and geranium lend a pleasant botanical scent.

V76 by Vaughn Styling Cream Medium Hold ($1.56):  Normal hold styling creme from the same source.  Promises easy separation and steady hold.

Birchbox Man + River Virtual Reality Viewer:  Don’t laugh — cardboard viewers are what the big boys are using — light, inexpensive, and easy to manufacture.  Super easy to assemble (just unfold), this little wonder pairs with your smartphone to create a next-gen VR viewer.  Your phone fits in the front and is safely velcroed into place.  Unfortunately, my 6S is too big, so you’ll need a standard size smartphone, not one of the micro-tablets that pass for phones.

Birchbox Man is still the king of men’s grooming and lifestyle boxes.  The grooming products are mid to high-end, and the lifestyle items are always fun and geared toward guys’ interests.  I wonder if there is a VR fire-pit I can sit by while sipping out of my new mugs.
