Thread & Flourish is a bi-monthly scarf subscription box featuring handmade and globally responsible scarves, plus two fair trade goodies every month! They source their items through trusted suppliers who uphold ethical standards and safe working environments for their employees. A bonus – all the scarves are made from natural fabrics, too! Boxes ship in January, March, May, July, September and November.
Recycled Paper Moon Decoration ($8) Made in Vietnam from recycled magazines and coated with a non-toxic lacquer. I’m very partial to recycled items like this and I think it’s so cute!
Capiz Filigree Teardrop Earrings ($16) Crafted with legally and sustainably harvested capiz shells. I was surprised to find that the silver filigree is on both sides of the earrings. Made by Saffy Handicrafts. It hadn’t occurred to me that capiz shells might not be legally harvested so I will make sure to look for that indication whenever I do purchase something made with capiz shells. I learned something!
Hand Woven Cotton Infinity Scarf ($57) Substantial and gorgeous – the color is so clear and bright! This is handcrafted by members of the Yama Aj Chixot Artisan Group in San Juan Comalapa, Guatemala and is 100% cotton in a traditional jaspe pattern on a pedal loom.
I love the texture! The total value of this box was $81 and it’s a gorgeous little box of fair trade treasures. I absolutely loved the earrings. I thought the scarf was a tad heavyweight for summer but I keep my heater on full blast all day long (do you have this problem at work too?) so I will very likely wear it for summer into fall. I think it would be great with a white tee and jeans, and absolutely perfect with those earrings.
