mighty fix july 2015 box

Mighty Fix is a subscription box from Mighty Nest. Every month their curators handpick a singular solution that helps you live more mindfully. You can add on items to have them ship free, which is a nice benefit, but everything I’ve found that I’ve liked from them is less expensive on Amazon. They recently recommended in an email these glasses, which I think we will pick up, because we need small glasses that are stackable with no design (mostly for when we take photos for the blog – but I love juice glasses for eggnog and such!).

LifeStings Bug Repellent  ($10.13) While last month’s selection was really boring, this was at least something different from what I already own/use – it’s a catnip-based natural bug repellent – 10x more effective than DEET and NO Citronella.  It smells minty and is a lotion, which is unusual. However, I have issues with the value of this – while every month is guaranteed to have more value than what you paid, thirteen cents more is really cutting it close.

I’m happy to try the Lifestings and I think it will be a great product, because it has no citronella (I’m a total bug magnet and will absolutely not use anything with citronella, because it’s nasty!), but so far, this subscription isn’t what I expected at all. I use Honest Company and ePantry for the bulk of my family’s needs for these types of items. I’m going to go for one more month and make my final decision. I was expecting items that don’t get used up – one previous month that I didn’t get was dish towels – which look exactly like the Honest Company dish towels.  It feels like the past 3 months of this subscription are “we sell the same stuff as Honest Company.” (But again, I’m really happy with the non-Citronella bug repellent as an item).

Another month was beeswax wrap (which I received in a Hamptons Lane box). For $10 a pop, I think you’re better off with an Honest Company Essentials bundle. Mighty Nest does donate 15% of sales to the school of your choice – but I’d prefer to just buy the items I want and give money (we already do!) to our school. I would have been thrilled with a set of juice glasses though!
