My Geek Box june 2015 boxMy Geek Box is a monthly subscription of geek goods shipped directly from the UK to your front door.  Each month you’ll get a mystery box filled to the brim with geek gamer and retro gear, including a limited edition t-shirt in your chosen size. Every month we choose a different theme: from zombies, to superheroes, to video games and even your favourite films. It’s not only the theme which changes from month to month, either – each box is unique, filled with a fresh batch of awesomeness.  Because it ships from the UK, shipping costs factor into the overall expense of the box.  The upside is you get some cool Brit/Euro exclusives from time to time.
My Geek Box june 2015 review

Everything in the box.  I thought this as a nice variety of items, as it included a figurine, a wearable, some flair, cards, candy, and a sweet mousepad.

My Geek Box june 2015 mouse pad

Star Wars Darth Maul Mousepad:  At first we thought this pad was unusually firm.   After giving it a whirl, we discovered that it was extra dense because it is optimized for use with an optical mouse.  The denser surface makes for better performance.  Also, kudos on selecting one of the stand-out characters from the prequels — I’m not sure I could handle staring at a JarJar pad all day.  Scissors not included.

Mutant Academy Tee:  Comfy standard tee features a riff on the Charles Xavier Academy, without the licensing issues.  The design mimics an actual school athletic department shirt and is more subtle than a full graphic. My Geek Box june 2015 IMG_5963

Now and Later:  we got a six-pack of the popular chewy candy.  Not a big ticket item, but fun nonetheless.

My Geek Box june 2015 funko pop

Funko Pop Unmasked Cyclops Figurine:  This version is a My Geek Box European Exclusive.  We love Funkos.  Cyclops rarely appears without his lenses, so this is a cool find.  Current asking price on Amazon for this exclusive version is $59.99. Less than that on eBay, but still, a hot item.

My Geek Box june 2015 cards

Spiderman Heroes & Villains Power Card Collection:  These fun cards feature characters frequenting Spiderman comics, as well many characters from the broader Marvel universe, such as X-men, Avengers, etc., that appear from time to time.  Each card has a comic-based rendition of the character (note the classic Nick Fury instead of SLJ), and has power rankings across five attributes for use in gameplay. My Geek Box june 2015 buttons

Marvel Guardians of the Galaxy Button Badges:  Four small and two large buttons based on the comic/movie characters.  Surprisingly, no Groot in our pack.  I would have preferred a full set of character badges, even if they were all small.

I was lukewarm on this box.  I have a feeling the shipping eats a lot of the value, and most of the items are pretty inexpensive at retail.  The The Funko is the priciest item in the box, and a typical Funko runs under $1o.00 at retail.  The Euro-exclusive Funko, however, was quite the score.  If each month features a similar exclusive, then the value of the box is actually pretty good.  I think it’s worth sticking with this box to see what exclusives come in the future.
