collectible geek june 2015 box

Collectible Geek‘s Collector’s Cache is a monthly package built for the ultimate collector, geek, or enthusiast. Each Collector’s Cache comes with “five meticulously chosen items such as t-shirts, Funko products, nerdy toys from the staff at collectibleGEEK, featuring a different theme each month”.

Our subscription works a little different than most do though.  If for any reason you don’t want to receive a month’s theme all you have to do is send an email to [email protected] by the 5th of the month; with your name in it, type SKIP THIS MONTH in the subject line and we will just skip that month for you.

The reason this box is so popular is that you can skip boxes that aren’t part of your personal fandom universe.

The June 2015 theme is “Intergalactic!” As you can see, there’s also an “I want it all” upgrade option. The IWIA option is a fully upgraded Pop pack and 2 additional items.

Here’s everything in the box.  The “Intergalactic” theme draws contributions from Firefly, Classic Trek, Battlestar, and even Nickelodeon. collectible geek june 2015 shirt

The Tee for this month features a line from the theme of Firefly, “Serenity’s Ballad.”  It’s a cool design, regardless of your affinity for the series.  It’s especially cool for Firefly fans.

Invader Zim Plush from the “classic” Nickelodeon series.  Honestly, prior to having kids, I had seen maybe five minutes total of programming on Nick in the last two decades, so this did not trigger any nostalgia for me.  I just remember green slime and game shows.  The “plush” on Zim is a thin velour fabric.  Absent any fondness you may have for the show, the toy itself is kinda cheap.  I can see why they added it — the theme tends to favor the heavy-hitters of the genre, and this adds some off-color whimsy.  Personally, I would have dug some TNG love, but that’s just me (plush Worf, anyone?).
collectible geek june 2015 trading cards

Star Trek Trading Cards:  The trouble with trading cards is you have to want to collect them all.  These cards are very nicely designed and feature movie poster style graphics.  They are “Original Series” cards and appear to feature individual episodes from the original late sixties run of the show.  In our pack, however, we received an “Albatross” card which is from the British animated series, so I’m not sure just how wide the net is cast.

Culture Shock Print Co. Posters:  we received the Mal Reynolds CollectibleGEEK exclusive and the uncommon Star-Gate recruitment posters.  Of course, the Borg poster is the ultimate (and rarest)…

The full set of Culture Shock prints.  cylon funko pop

Funko Pop Cylon Centurion:  Funkos are always awesome, and the Centurion is particularly suited to the Funko treatment, since human faces tend to all look the same in Funko.  The best part of Funkos, other than their adorable appearance and pop culture cache, is that they are readily recognizable to other fans, but they are cute enough that they (usually) don’t scare kids and look harmless in your cubicle or office.

We also have July Box spoilers plus a service update!

The July theme is: Animation After Dark – Cartoons Prime Time or Later, Then & Now!  I recognize the Futurama and Simpsons fonts on the top half of the card.  Not so sure on the fonts on the bottom.  Really, with entire networks devoted to adult-targeted cartoons (and I’m not just talking about Fox), anything could be in store for next month.  Do they make a MeatWad Funko?

Also, you’ll be getting boxes sooner:

Starting with the Animation After Dark Cache we will be moving our ship date to the 25th of the month. That’s the 25th of the month it sells out in. So Animation After Dark sells until the 7th of July at Midnight…and it will begin shipping on the 25th of July.

This was the last box in our six month subscription. While the past two boxes were a remarkable improvement over the earlier ones, we think we’re going to try out a new subscription in its place and wait for a theme that we need before resubscribing.

OMG I LOVE LOVE LOVE Invader Zim, I am big into cartoons. It is funny when the character changes into his green doggie costume. There are all these graphics and then… you just see him step into it and zip it up. Hilarious. I seriously miss this cartoon!

My guess is Flintstones and Family Guy for the other fonts
