The information card. Unusually, it lists the shipping prices for the items individually, which I think is great (but oopsie, a bit of a mistake on the candle addition). However, the prices are for full size items – and things like the soap aren’t full size. I think if they’re going to give an iea of how much things cost to purchase individually they need to be accurate (both in addition and as to size of item – no listing larger sizes).
“Hello Everyone” 5 x 7 print ($10) Wait, what, $10? This was supposed to be a print? Too bad I fugged mine up. I used an ugly ass marker and so then I put glitter glue on top. Sadness, because mine’s going in the recycling (after wiping off the glue – chill). I think information cards have no value FWIW (especially if you’re encouraged to write on them).
Ms. Betty’s Bad Ass Candles You’re F’n Awesome Candle ($18) I am! This is a citrus & chili pepper scent, hand-poured with all-natural vegan soy wax. It is highly scented and I had to open up the package (it came shipped in a bubble mailer) and let it set for a bit! It got a little aromatic in the heat! Fabulous choice and I’d only wished it was a little more explicit. I say go all the way, forget the abbreviations!
Formulary 55 Sea Salt & Lavender Shea Butter Soap ($4.12) This smells more like spa and sea and salt to me than anything else (and not really lavender at all) but it smells great. I somewhat regretted having to open it because it was so cute for a gift. But now it’s a gift for moi!
Viveo Leather Goods Cognac Leather Keychain ($2.50) This apparently comes in multiple colors, and while this is clearly well crafted and constructed, it would have been nice to get a girly color (turquoise, pink) – this feels fairly male, like it would have appeared in a Bespoke Post.
Stuff We Like Pocket Notebook ($10) With lined pages inside, I love the design, but a teeny 18 page notebook doesn’t have a $10 value. (Four times as much as the leather keychain?!)
Despite my criticisms regarding pricing and value, this is a great first box. I would love to see what the men’s box contained. For $25.99 there were about $27 (Brandy value) in items. FYI – I have no idea about the curators of this box, who describe themselves as gaming content creators. They have massive fan bases (I see one of them put a YouTube video up a few hours ago with around 200k views, which puts me to shame). I think the items were fantastic and anyone would be happy with this box, but perhaps they did themselves a bit of a disservice with the odd values – for an indie lifestyle box it’s completely respectable to have the cost of the box (including shipping) be equivalent to the value of the items (not including shipping). I expect that their fans won’t care and aren’t rabidly addicted to reading about total break downs of the value of every subscription box.
