Club W is a wine subscription box that is so much more than a Wine Club. They are a global winery, and are all about making ridiculously delicious wine at a fantastic price. In each box you receive two to three different wines (red or white) after taking a 5 question quiz!
Each month, you receive three bottles of wine. This month I received Two red and one white! Every month after your first, they send you wine to your liking (after you rate each wine.) I received three bottles of sweet wine, because I like sweeter wine! They come nicely packaged with all of the information needed. You do, however have to sign for this package, so they can make sure you are 21 years of age or older.
The cards are very informative, and all have meal pairings on the back!
The meal pairings look delicious, and I love that the ingredients are on the cards so you can make each meal.
The first wine we tried (my husband and I) was the 2012 Mopina Super Tuscan Blend. This is your big Italian-American family dinner wine. This wine is a take on the Super Tuscan style, which is produced in California. Its medium-bodied with silky texture and richness on the palate, juicy flavor , and has a characteristic cherry finish.
This was our favorite out of the three in the box. Is had a rich flavor, but it went down smooth. I am not a huge red wine person, but I really enjoyed this! This pairs nicely with a Spaghetti dinner!
The 2014 Pufferfish Albarino wine was our least favorite. This has a fresh flavor with a hint of lime. Albarino is a Spanish grape from Spain, which makes it rare! This wine is perfect chilled for day drinking with a nice cold salad!
Last, but not least was the 2010 Un Paso Mas Red Blend. Paired with a fabulous Rib Eye, this special occasion wine is one of a kind. With four years in the bottle, it sure is perfect for special occasions! This wine has a soft texture, which impacts the secondary flavors. Since this bottle is aged it has a dark fruit and earthy flavor.
We enjoyed this wine, but I actually would enjoy this wine chilled rather than room temperature.

You can also add on bottles to your club selection and the process is easy and not overwhelming to pick it out. I like the price point of these wines – $13-20. Enough that probably everything is very good (remember, it’s also direct to consumer so it cuts out all the marketing costs) but not so expensive that you can’t bear to just have a glass. Or two. Or as my husband did last night, 6.
The final thing that’s worth mentioning is the wine pages themselves! You can check out your last box and rate the wines 1-5 stars right from the box page, but if you click on them, you’ll be taken to a page with a tasting video, plus the recipe for the wine. It’s really fun to taste the wine along with the video to get a better idea of what you’re tasting.

A friend recommended this service, so I gave it a try. The wines were low quality with very simple flavor profiles and extremely short finishes. If you’re looking for something cheap that doesn’t taste bad, this is a good choice, but if you like wine, don’t bother.
More annoying was that cancellation was difficult. They don’t have any way to cancel on the site, nor via email, nor by calling them unless you call during business hours in their time zone. I was also charged a cancellation fee, which I always consider to be the sign of a less reputable vendor.
I wasn’t aware of a cancellation fee. I will check that out. Thanks!
