My Pretend Place is all about learning, dress-up, and adventure, including DIY adventures. My Pretend Place offers a quarterly themed pretend play and dress up subscription box for children aged 3-6. They also have a monthly DIY Projects subscription! This is the April 2015 box and it was super fun!
Lots of supplies! Everything was included that we needed.
There were two projects in the box: paper roll binoculars & bird feeder! There were nice step by step instructions along with pictures.
There’s a short letter from the birdkeeper at the zoo. He suggests studying the birds that come to visit with the binoculars you make!
Every My Pretend Place box includes a strap to turn your box into luggage and some stickers!
We glued the binoculars together and left them to dry (those craft rolls are so sturdy!) while the kids painted their sticks. This took a long time (in a good way!) and they were intensely focused on it.
Much painting occurred!
While the sticks dried the kids decorated their binoculars.
These are super cute and they are still in use.
Ready for action!
My husband didn’t take photos of the kids assembling their bird feeders, but they did it themselves. My daughter provided an additional ledge for the birds to rest on. My husband added some peanut butter as bird feed spackle, especially as he went super advanced in the assembly/hanging of the bird feeders.

This right here is my mini me. The kids have definitely been keeping their eyes on the bird feeder using their binoculars, and we have been hanging them on the sliding glass door with a hook suction cup so they can grab them and get outside. This was a great project and I loved the traditional craft project that I did not have to lift a finger to organize! This box is only $15 per month!
