There’s a mini magazine in every box and it’s very editorial – the Allure editors pick every product and give tips on use and why they like it. Or why you might not. April featured a lot of hedging their bets!

Everything in the April box. I was surprised how small everything was.

Benefit Cosmetics the POREfessional ($4.23) I’ve received this a couple times recently but it’s a great product and will definitely be used. Wear over or under makeup. I do like the card, it gives great tips!

Bumble & Bumble Hairdresser’s Invisible Oil ($0.78)
Marc Jacobs Daisy Dream Fragrance ($2.90)

This was a nice fruity scent with blackberry, grapefruit, pear, jasmine, lychee, blue wisteria, white woods, musk, and coconut water.  The hair oil actually worked fabulously on my very fine hair – I just wished there was more!

Mt. Sapola Lavender-Chamomile Lotion ($1.96) This is a great calming lotion and it does soak right in and leave NO residue. It’s just so tiny – it’s not even enough for one full body application.

Illume Tonka Noir Sample Tin ($3.33) Love this delicious mandarin, plum, rose, jasmine, tonka bean, musk, sandalwood, and vanilla scent. I love everything from Illume. It would have been fab to get a bigger candle!

Jane Iredale Rio Just Kissed Lip Plumper ($7) The value on this one is just a guess. A full size product is $25, and this is probably much less than 1/3. This is a soft lipstick that plumps gently – no burning. I don’t like peppermint lip balms because they irritate my lips, and I didn’t find this one irritating.

The value of the April Allure Sample Society was around $20 (this is maybe $2 too generous), which I found appalling. Last month’s value was great, and I do expect at least $10 more in value from this box (and really, any beauty subscription). The products themselves were great – this box just felt a little chintzy and they should have amped up the value with a larger size item of.. anything! It’s hard to justify this one when there’s Birchbox!

FYI, some past Allure Sample Society boxes are now available on Amazon, including mystery boxes of samples!

There is allure sample society in Europe. The box is big, gives about 10-15 samples and costs about the same price as the one in States, and the size of samples is a lot bigger. I was excited to try this one even if it looked smaller according to previous boxes. I am so disappointed with my first box. I already have about five samples of this fragrance, which I got for free when shopped in Sephora. The color of lipstick is absolutely unwearable for me since i have a really light skin, it’s just not my color. The body lotion was so small. The candle is just ok, I’d rather have beauty products, that’s why I subscribed. The primer is good, I’ve had one before, but it’s size is so tiny! The only thing I liked was the hair oil, but I have a long hair and the sample was gone after three uses. Everything is so tiny, and you actually have to pay for it, while in the store they can give samples of the same size for free with a purchase. Also there is no place on the website to leave a review. I’m gonna give them another shot in May. If it’s the same disappointing, I’m not gonna waste my money, rather subscribe to smth else.

I resurrected my bloggy and couldn’t even bring myself to blog about this box. How could I give an accurate, let alone funny post when there was basically nothing to experience. Super sucks.
