The March box was packed with different activities for us to do. The theme was Music: The Science of Sound, and the activities really provided lots of fun, and learning. She really could not wait to open this box.
As always, all of the activities are in separate bags, with all of the items you need to do each one. This month there were 6 activities!
The first two activities were the science of Volume and Sound Waves.In these activities we made Maracas and a Balloon rattle.
We filled the egg up with beans, and wrapped two spoons with tape around the egg! This made for awesome maracas!
We then filled a balloon with salt, and made a balloon rattle. Even I didn’t think this was going to work. Salt does seem to make a ton of noise, but it really worked! The harder we striked the balloon, the louder the sound got!
The next activities were to learn about Vibration and Pitch. We made a Tube Kazoo, and a Straw Kazoo.
We really had fun decorating this one. The small music stickers were a huge plus! By humming into this “Kazoo” the noise that came out was really neat! We did the same with the straws by making the ends into V’s. It’s really awesome what kind of music you can make, using every day items!!
Last, but not least we learned about Rhythm (Which M has a ton of!) We made Ankle Bells, Finger Cymbals and a box guitar. By using the box, we really recycled!
First we made the Ankle bell. We used the beads and bells inside the bag to put on the string! She is still walking around with this on her ankle, she loves it!
We then, made the Finger Cymbals. What a wonderful item. Two bottle caps, a piece of the box and some tape really makes an awesome cymbal!
Last, we used the actual Green Kid box, and made a Box Guitar. Putting different rubber bands around the box makes different sounds, like a guitar!
This was M’s favorite part!
We LOVED Green Kid Crafts this month! Each activity really has a purpose, and we ( yes, even me) learned a lot! We love music around our house, so this box was a total hit! We will be using all the items in here all day, I’m sure!
