This is a GIANT almost suitcase box so I was really excited to check out what was inside!
There’s no information card, but the box comes with a My Pretend Place magnet, a handle, and some foam stickers for turning that big box into something useful!
Our box’s theme was Princess. The current boy theme is astronaut and the gender neutral theme is safari. See some photos below of the main costumes for those! You can actually see what comes in the boxes (and can order individually if you don’t want a surprise) on the My Pretend Place website.
Melissa and Doug Decorate Your Own Wooden Princess Mirror ($6.99) My daughter is super excited about this because she loves mirrors and art. It’s no longer in my office so I assume it was whisked away and decorated.
Don’t Kiss the Frog Book ($7.97)This is super adorable and my daughter took this right away.
She loved the varying fonts and read several stories to her brother. They’re so cute!
Melissa & Doug Princess Stamp Set ($9.99) She’s super excited about this and I believe that she’s planning some fairytale scenes. I think any kid loves stamping and this is an easy non-messy art activity.
Melissa & Doug Princess Role Play Set ($29.99) Oh the big costume! Tada! This is very pretty and I think all the My Pretend Place costumes are Melissa & Doug. I do wonder if the “girl” sets are all super girly so if that’s not your thing I would sign up for gender neutral or boy. This is actually the first girl costume we have!

This is the costume that comes in the Safari gender neutral box! My kids adore dress up and role play so this box is perfect for kids like them! I would say that kids as young as 33 months or so could get use out of this box – and the items would last them for years.

I normally think the $50 boxes don’t look worth it (and even some of the $30 boxes look not worth it to me) but this one really looks like its a good value. Especially if the costumes really are comfortable. I hated dress up clothes when I was a kid because they were all stiff and itchy and I had uber sensitive skin I may look into these for my daughter when she is old enough for them. We will see how girly she is as to whether we should go for the gender neutral, boy or girl. Maybe we’ll alternate between the 3 to get a variety for her to try out.
I am impressed! I ordered the Princess dress up subscription YESTERDAY for my 4 year old granddaughter hoping the box would arrive within a week for her party.
