The Lewis Hilsentenger is my last of three boxes I signed up for from Quarterly, and my last in a long while (until Nina Garcia ships again). Lewis Hilsentenger is the founder of Unbox Therapy,  “a show dedicated to product-based video coverage. With an emphasis on gadgets and technology, Unbox Therapy introduces the latest in consumer electronics to a growing audience.” Quarterly says to expect Home, Toys, & Technology in this box. I thought it was appropriate to check this box out, because we unbox all day, but otherwise I had no real expectations. This particular box was $50 per quarter (Quarterly boxes vary in price). And no, I didn’t make an unboxing video. Sorrrryyyyy!

The Subscription: Quarterly

I have never watched someone unbox their own subscription box, I think it’s annoying. I was also annoyed that there was no product list in the box. I assume I received everything, someone can go annoy themselves and watch the video I guess. Actually I’m sure there are loads of genuinely excited people unboxing this box on youtube that aren’t the box maker. I just think it’s weird, OK? To unbox your own box.

Grip iT Analog Stick Covers ($5)  Controller button covers. I have a set of these somewhere and eventually I’ll have enough to cover a whole passel of controllers.IMG_3596

Urban Ears Kransen Indigo ($39) These actually look like pretty awesome earphones. I love how they have 3 different size covers and there are all sorts of design features. If you want to read more about them, definitely visit the website. This is a nice pick and I haven’t seen them before. Although it is, you know, headphones, and I venture to guess that most subscribers to this box have a great pair already.

Veho 360 Portable Capsule Speaker ($11.50) This has pretty meh reviews, and it’s an old product. It’s kind of a disappointing pick, not to mention that it’s more sound stuff. I am not sure if it’s just Quarterly or if every box that sends out technology stuff is prone to this kind of MEHness. I think I’m regifting this to one of the kids who will appreciate it more than me!

#lew01 had a value of $55.50 and I was happy with that. Sometimes Quarterly boxes can have a terrible value, but this was pretty good. I don’t think I’ll continue with this subscription but it was fun to check it out.  I do think it could have been loads more inventive and I was disappointed with the curation. I would expect an unboxing expert/tech veteran to be more creative!

I was going to get this sub and was on the list for a long time and they kept pushing it back so I cancelled it. Now glad I did! Not much curation in this box. Very much of a let down and with a valuation of $55 when most are over $80 I would have been extremely disappointed if I had gotten this box.m glad I kept Nina Garcias! Much more worth the money and the curation was so awesome!!! Lewis have to find another person to buy this box!!!!

Yes I just totally agree. Obviously I didn’t watch the video but I felt maybe he picked the earphones, got the gripits as a promo item, and the speaker was on close out. A lot of box items are I just see Quarterly as being about the curation and was not impressed!
