Project DIY‘s first collection of 2014 is here! For January the theme is Film Noir and it features a belt and a charm bracelet!
inspiration was drawn from the femme fatales of 1940s Hollywood. Seductive and dangerous, these dark muses lit up the silver screen in long sultry gowns, fitted trench coats, and neatly tailored peplum suits. Smitten by their poise, a collection was created that is lush with DIY potential and style.
Here’s what I find super interesting about the January Project DIY collection! I love that Project DIY gives directions for their pieces but also a roadmap for you to make it your own!
Chains, satin cord, and charms were selected in colors that evoke the film noir genre. The projects for this month (Femme Fatale Convertible Belt and Dark Romance Charm Bracelet) can be made as separate pieces, or can be combined into one. They can be used as jewelry pieces or personal accessories—the best part is that you decide. Just like those femme fatales controlled their destiny (and the johns they involved in their risky plots), you get to make the rules for how you DIY.
You can still get the free starter kit with your first Project DIY box! I’m looking forward to these and figuring out that (leather? ribbon?) weaving technique! Be sure to check out all my MJ Project DIY Reviews to find out more about these fun DIY boxes! I probably don’t say this enough – but I love the iPhone application for the directions!
