October Julep Maven Review: Bombshell

So, I’ve had the October Julep Maven Box (I got Bombshell) since I came home, as it was delivered on the day we left for vacation. Um, apparently everyone is still getting their Julep? I didn’t bother to review it yet, because I thought EVERYONE had seen it already? So, um, sorry about that! I didn’t know! I unpacked this box and swatched it while I was on the phone with my husband, I apologize in advance for bizarre looking photos. I promise that my hilarious review will be worth it!

Also, I think this is a special sale that’s for October 15 only, (tonight is the last night to buy the mystery box, saw something promoed for tomorrow, and found it while writing my post, buy it NOW! I will update if I find more – there are now so many it should be its own post!)

October 2013 Julep Bombshell

Candy Corn My son said “mmmmMMMMmmmm!” (Look, everything needs reviewed, ok?)

Kajal Eye Glider & Sharpener ($17.60) This is a black/brown eyeliner pencil. There are many others like it, this one is mine. When I read about this pencil I was all super excited, and now I’m like, it’s eyeliner. I actually think the brown is great, it’s got a bit of shimmer in it. Julep made a big deal about the sharpener, and while I think it’s great to include it (I always lose mine), it was not the best thing since sliced bread.

This looks nice and sharp, but I found it smudged easily. I think it needs set. Kajal is now in the modern beauty intro box, which you can get free with code FREECOLOR, which is amusing, because if you get that one, you’re not getting any polish. That’s ok, you’re getting bare face oil free!

Cleopatra Black latex crème ($11.20) I thought this was cool, and it really dried like black latex. It doesn’t actually have latex rubber in it, don’t freak if you’re allergic.

Valerie Teal with iridescent microglitter ($7.99) I assure you this swatch does not convey the horror that is Valerie in person. It looks like witch vomit. It’s kind of dark and gray teal with all this microglitter. And yes, witch vomit came right out of my mouth when talking to my husband. As soon as I saw it, I was kinda like, UM WTF is this color? Did I really buy this? There’s a reason it’s on sale.

Here’s the swatch of Cleo. It’s a great black!

Casper ($11.20) It glows! Seriously, Casper is gorgeous even without glowing, it’s a perfect pearl shimmer.

Beatrix – Coal black with multidimensional glitter ($11.20) I LOVE THIS I WILL USE THE WHOLE BOTTLE AND I FEEL LIKE I’M FIFTEEN YEARS OLD AGAIN BUT WAY COOLER! That being said the description is wrong, it’s clear base, not black, and I have it layered over Cleo.

I think I may buy the cobweb duo! That boogeyman set is such an amazing steal, it will sell out like that! I do totally feel ready for Halloween, I just wish I had my box before I left on my Halloween vacation! Maybe we’ll do the H-ween on the actual day like normal folks so I can wear all my black glitter. Heck, I’ll probably paint my nails black tonight. LOVING IT!
