August Love With Food : Backyard BBQ

love with food august information card

The theme for August’s Love With Food was Backyard BBQ! I love the LWF box’s information card, the drawing is always so adorable and the back contains all the information you need, no more!

Organic BOPS Sea Salt Potato Crisps $1.50. I wasn’t really a fan, but my kids happily munched on these. These are sorta like Pringles in that they are formed from potato flakes and baked. But not like Pringles because they are organic & GMO-Free. They’re also ridged and sort of puffy..

Baked Snapea Crisps $.75 Also gluten-free, these are made of rice & 70% peas. They tasted more like split peas instead of fresh peas and I was hoping for the latter. I didn’t love these either. I taste everything and then seal them in a box for my kids!

Aunt Sally’s Original Creamy Pralines $2.50. Yum, I love Aunt Sally’s! Have you been to their store? They sell all sorts of flavors and this is just one of them!

Sahale Fruit & Almond Crunchers – Cranberries, Sesame Seeds, & Honey $1. These totally made up for the first two items. They were amazing! The flavor was so delicate and the vanilla, sesame, and orange-kissed honey really melded together. I know they sell some Sahale at my Costco and I am going to pick up a bag next time. Speaking of things at Costco, mine also has those Somersaults sunflower snacks from a few months ago in Love With Food (I think the Andrew Zimmern box?). They were so delicious! Win!

Rip van Wafels Caramel Filled Amsterdam Waffle Cookie $1.50. We had these in a Juniper box. It’s a great little waffle cookie with caramel inside.

Project 7 Sugar-Free Mints $ 1.25. I didn’t love the Quench mints that came in Popsugar Must Have Box a few months back but I love these bitingly refreshing “Fresh Mints.” Purchasing Project 7 “save the earth” mints helps save the earth by paying for planting of fruit trees!

El Pinto All Natural Medium Salsa $.75. This was really excellent salsa! It was restaurant style and contained no sugar. Once I took back salsa to costco because it was too sweet for me. Seriously. This one was excellent. I ate it with a spoon.

Dizzy Pig BBQ Co BBQ Spice Rub $1.10 Dizzy Pig BBQ has so many flavors! Mine was Tsunami Spin (for poutry/seafood) and I loved the turmeric in this. It was really great and I’ll probably put it on veggies and chicken. It’s also all natural with no MSG or fillers.

Plus a BOGO coupon for Snapea Crisps (or Lentil Snaps) and $2 off any two Pinto products. I came up with a value of $10.35, which I think is a little shy of what Love With Food has been in the past, but for the sampling opportunity and amount of interesting products in this box, I’m pretty happy with it. You can’t go wrong with your first box for 2 bucks if you’re looking to sign up for something fun! Visit Love With Food to do it.

I LOVED the praline. Unfortunately my salsa exploded and my box was squishy with black mold growing inside! Very disgusting smell. Fortunately most of the products didn’t have mold growing on their packaging. I sent pictures to Love With Food and they are sending me a new one and they refunded my purchase price ($2 with the first box promo) – WONDERFUL customer service. I’m definitely going to keep this subscription for awhile even if the value for this first box isn’t the highest.

My first box came in the mail yesterday…Loved it thus far. The Praline…my boyfriend could not get enough…and he inhaled those mints (he has a sweet tooth). Love it!
