It’s POPSUGAR time and I think I got mine before everyone else this time! Looks like East Coasters got shipped out of the East Coast. Awesome development, I hated waiting two weeks for my box!! FedEx SmartPost really is just super super slow.

If you don’t know already the POPSUGAR Must Have Box monthly subscription box is a lifestyle box filled with monthly must-haves selected by the POPSUGAR editors ranging from personal care to fitness to accessories to home and luxury items and interesting edible treats. A great variety box that you can inhale all at once or dole out to yourself (or to others!) as the month goes by.

If you sign up with this link and use the code SAVE5PSMH by the end of April you’ll get $5 off your first box or subscription. REFERFRIENDS no longer works (I tried!).

I got my April Pop Sugar box!

This box was very light… Intriguing, especially as the last couple were heavier!

My box wasn’t as pretty as usual when I opened it, but no big deal!

The card reads

After a long Winter, we are ready to embrace Spring… to get in the eco spirit, we are sending out a four-in-one garment bag, which will be especially handy when traveling with your formalwear to any upcoming weddings. We’re also including a classic scent, a suprrising snack with a very on-trend ingredient, and a bracelet to add to your arm party.

What’s in the April Pop Sugar Must Have Box!

This box is basically a going out box!

I got this kai roll-on perfume. MSRP is $48 and it is gardenia and white exotics (tuberose, jasmine, lilies). A little floral for both me & bestie, but I have someone I can gift this to. the kai perfume oil is $37 on amazon.com. Perfect to tuck into a tiny bag, and I bet the summer heat really brings this scent out.

Tatcha night time blotting papers. Evening Aburatorigami to be exact, with charcoal to absorb the oil and gold flakes to be glamorous! Tatcha has great reviews, and isn’t supposed to mess up your makeup, so tuck this one in your night clutch too!IMG_5706

shashi bracelet. i thought this was a cute and simple (but sparkly) bracelet and it was adjustable, too. mine was similar to this shashi bracelet on amazon ($22) but a different color. i love the turquoise and i will totally wear this with a white top, denim skirt, and my precious bulga bag (first or second season, it’s my favorite bag). Other colors were cobalt and gray, and I would have liked any of the three.IMG_5707

Alter Eco Dark Quinoa Chocolate bar. There was also a $1 off coupon in the box. You can get this online at Alter Eco but we are getting into the season where shipping chocolate is a bad idea (and I hope the boxes stop including it for the summer, ruined chocolate makes me SO SAD). So head down to Whole Foods for this one. The quinoa made a satisfying mouth crunch/pop and the chocolate itself complemented it nicely.IMG_5708

Bestie holding the *GIANT* PopSugar branded 4-in-1 Green Garmento bag. She took this home with her because she is flying out first with a suit. It’s so hard to have a hanging garment bag on a plane now that we both buy packable suits, she took this to protect it. To be honest, I don’t get this item. It’s not really reusable as a dry cleaner bag unless your dry cleaner uses this or agrees to use it or whatever. I think it’s decent for what it is. It’s “breathable”…which means its that weird reusable bag fabric that eventually pills and gets kinda nasty.

I avoid dry cleaning whenever possible and wear my suits 3-4 times before I have them cleaned. It’s expensive, hard on your fine clothes, and really is bad on the environment. It just depends on how you use things and this one just didn’t fly with me. I can foresee a lot of people dropping clothes off in this bag and perhaps not getting it back.  However, it would be fantastic if this got some dry cleaners to switch to reusable bag systems, so in the eco friendly spirit, I’m going to try not to knock it too hard. I just won’t be dropping off my dry cleaning in it (and besides, I typically take my suits in hung up – I don’t stuff it in a bag!). And do the bags get cleaned after the dirty clothes are in them? I digress…

For reference, my best friend is an entire foot taller than I am, checking in at almost 6 feet tall. That’s a 2 year old underneath this bag.  This thing is ENORMOUS.

Should you Splurge?

To be honest, I didn’t love this box like I loved March POPSUGAR Must Have. I think the most valuable item for me personally was the chocolate, and that’s like a four dollar bar.  I didn’t like the perfume scent, I have dry skin, and I could have done without the bracelet, although I will try to use it. I just felt this box was wanting for a wow item. Maybe you disagree and loooove this box and want next month’s and you should totally use my signup link! But I’m not going to tell you I loved it just to get you to sign up 🙂 Go look at the March link – doesn’t this picture seem kind of sad? I might just be a cranky old lady though!

Did you get the April POPSUGAR Must Have Box? Do you agree?

You can see more information about POPSUGAR in the subscription box directory or sign up for POPSUGAR using my link (and thank you!).

I am so glad to find I am not the only one slightly disappointed with this months box. They have been killing it lately with the others boxes and then this one was just so-so. It’s a bit of a let down, but I will hang on for another month. I do however love the Kai. I am a bit of a floral girl, but overall it was one of the least interesting boxes I have received.
