Oats n stuff: quick functional breakfast for kids

I don’t have a lot of time in the morning with my kids, and I’d rather play with them than spend a long time in the kitchen. I hate feeding them cereal though! Most days we do oatmeal!
This morning we amped up our oats with the hemp hearts from the klutchclub box that came yesterday. I like to provide one sprinkle or mix in that has functional benefits and extra taste. Sometimes we do chia seeds or ground flax. Other times it is dried fruits. I am not a 100% perfect freak and I do offer craisins (yes thry have sugar on them!) some mornings. I just put a little less brown sugar or maple syrup in their oats. And sometimes we make cocoa oats! The kids are wild about those! All of these add-ins and sprinkles have functional components like healthy fats or antioxidants.

Oats are a great way to introduce new flavors to my kids because they are familiar and comforting. And this really couldn’t be easier.

I make my oats very thick with milk, no water. The kids like me to pour milk on top so the oats have to be like sludge so they aren’t runny afterwards.

On the weekends I try to make eggs but its something I just can’t get my act together to do on weekdays!
