I received 2 hard back books in the fantasy genre. The books were cushioned with paper to keep the covers from damage.
Ladies, this month’s box was meant just for us.
This month’s theme seems to be about the women and what would happen if there were no men or we were transported to another realm.
The Thinking Woman’s Guide to Real Magic by Emily Croy Barker ($12.76 paperback Amazon) is about a young lady in grad school whose life seems to be unraveling before her as she is being threatened to be kicked out of school and her boyfriend of a couple of years dumps her for a new girl. Now ladies, haven’t we all been through something similar. While at a wedding of a friend, our main character runs into her ex, meets a new guy who turns out to be a jerk and then gets lost while out walking on a trail in the mountains. While trying to find her way home she meets an elegant lady who takes her under her wings. While with this woman, our character becomes entranced by the going ons and doesn’t realize that things are exactly as they seem. Once she does come to her senses, she realizes she is in a different realm and must find a way to get back home. The title on this book entranced me and I just had to begin reading this book right away. So far I haven’t really been able to put it down…well I did put it down long enough to do this review. LOL!

My next book for the ladies is Beautiful You by Chuck Palahniuk ($17.64 Amazon). The title is maybe a little deceiving. You have to read the book to understand why. This book is about a lady who becomes a test subject for final development of a line of feminine products to be marketed in a nationwide chain of boutiques called Beautiful You. So effective are these products, that women by the millions outside the stores on opening day and then lock themselves in their room with them and stop coming out. Except for batteries. Oh my! A world where men are not needed. LOL!

Total retail for this box is about $31, cost of the subscription $14.99 a month. Total savings: about $16!!! I love savings! Even if you use used book pricing this is still coming ahead by a few bucks or break even. Do you like stories about different worlds? If you do, I know you will enjoy these books.
