New Beauty Test Tube is a beauty subscription box filled with 8 (or more) deluxe and full-sized luxury beauty products. When you subscribe you will also receive a subscription to NewBeauty magazine, delivered quarterly. This subscription is $29.95 plus shipping and is delivered every other month.

There was a card on top that announced that this box was a “Takeover TestTube” and that all of the products would be from it’s a 10. As a fine haired gal this filled me with despair so most of these products had to be tested by my daughter and my friend since saying “this product made my hair flat and greasy and I hate it” on each of the items makes for a boring review.  You will find my take, Gemma’s take, or Tessa’s take on each of the products this month to give the brand and box a fighting chance.

The tube was wrapped with tissue paper and had a tag on it from the magazine’s editor.

This was my very first NewBeauty TestTube and I was looking forward to receiving it but the next shipment is supposed to be bigger and have more products so now I really can’t wait until November!

My products came in a giant cardboard tube and there was an additional product placed in the shipping box. All of it’s a 10’s products are supposed to do “10 things instantly”.

There was an information booklet with details, prices, and instructions for using the products.

The rest of the products were in this giant tube!

Everything in the box! Although they are very pretty, I was disappointed to not find at least one volumizing product. Imagine that you have curly, frizzy, dry, or coarse hair and you received a box full of Big Sexy Hair volumizers, root lifters, volumizing and clarifying shampoos, light conditioners, mousse, texturizing spray, and so on and you will know why I am so disappointed (although I would be ecstatic to receive such a box). Sorry to harp on about it but even one product from the it’s a 10 volumizing or styling product line would have been an improvement. OK, rant finished.

Miracle Whipped Shampoo ($24.96) GEMMA’S TAKE: “The shampoo worked well, I liked it because it wasn’t heavy and it left my hair feeling clean. I LOVED it. 10/10.”

Miracle Whipped Styling Balm ($24.96) MY TAKE: Like putting greasy frosting in your hair. I had a bad hair day.

TESSA’S TAKE: “This came out way too fast and was so heavily perfumed I was afraid I would get a migraine so I passed it on to my daughter.”

See, it looks like frosting! I applied a fraction of this to my hair and it was still to heavy for my locks.

Miracle Moisture Shampoo ($4.40) TESSA’S TAKE: “This gave me body without having it go poufy. I liked it!”

Miracle Daily Conditioner ($8.01) TESSA’S TAKE: “Ditto.”

Potion 10 Miracle Styling Potion ($11.96) MY TAKE: I skipped the conditioner and used a bit of this instead. My hair combed easily but my style was flat.

GEMMA’S TAKE: “This didn’t smell very good and I felt like it did nothing for my hair. Can I have more of that shampoo?”

Miracle Hair Mask ($11.96) MY TAKE: Every Sunday I wash with a clarifying shampoo and then follow with a deep conditioner and expect that my hair will be flat all day but I am happy to have one that should last me for a year. Contains sweet almond oil to promote growth and linseed extract to soothe the scalp and smelled great. Couldn’t get my hair to hold any body but I expected that.

Miracle Leave-In Product ($11.96) MY TAKE: I sprayed two pumps of this in my palms and applied to wet hair and my hair combed easily. This can also be used on dry hair as a styling cream or pomade. Not as heavy as the other products but it did nothing to help my hairstyle.

Miracle Defrizzing Gel ($16.96) MY TAKE: Supposed to be non-greasy and lightweight but they lied.

TESSA’S TAKE: “I liked it! It made my hair soft and smooth until I went outside but it was really humid. It smelled good and wasn’t too strong.”

I obviously didn’t love my very first New Beauty TestTube but I am crossing my fingers that November’s box will be awesome! September’s box had a value of over $120 which is amazing but I ended up giving all but one of my products away.

Glad I saw this review before I purchased. I am a skincare-centric subbie box subscriber , so I definitely would have been sad. Also, a single brand box screams “sponsored” to me.

THIS BOX IS AWESOME… IT IS NOT A 10.. IT IS A 100…. THIS IS THE BEST BOX – TUBE. I EVER GOT.. I LOVED THAT IT WAS ALL ONE BRAND OF PRODUCTS. I WAS ABLE TO TEST THEM ALL. I USED WEN PRODUCTS FOR ABOUT 5 YEARS. WEN IS NOW IN MY PAST. IT’S A 10 IS NOW MY NEW HAIR PRODUCT. I HAVE VERY FINE HAIR THAT IS STRAIGHTER THAN A RULER. I LOVE THE WAY MY HAIR FEELS, SMELLS, AND LOOKS.

Normally this box impresses me but not this month. I have an undercut with a 3-4 inch hawk up top and my haircare is literally as low key as it gets. So when I get hair products they go to my 4 year old who has never had a cut and has hair all the way to the bottom of her bottom. But none of these products interest me for her either. Maybe the mask or the leave in spray but thats about it.

    November, however, sounds very promising.
