Unbox Love August 2016 Subscription Box Review

Unbox Love is a monthly date in a box designed to spark romance between couples. Each date-in-a-box comes with everything you’ll need to get the romance started–games, instructions, even conversation starters! In short, they strive to have all of their subscribers cheering, “Let’s Bring Back Date Night!”

Each box arrives well packaged, with all of the instructions included on the enclosed index cards.

August 2016’s box includes everything you’ll need for an exciting game of disc golf with the one you love!

The contents of the box come listed on page 1 of the directions: a blanket, two frisbees, 3 disc targets, two drink packets, two packages of trail mix and and a card game.

The rest of the information cards detail how to play disc golf, how to create incentives for wins on individual holes and what to do once you’ve finished with the pure fun together part of the date.

I thought these two frisbees were pretty neat. They were blue when I opened the box, but when we took them outside on our date, they turned a pretty purple color. Cool! For die hard frisbee players, it’s worth noting that these are not regulation discs. They’re very light weight and have a different shape than you’d expect. Honestly, my husband wouldn’t stop complaining about them. But then again, that’s the only thing that (theoretically) gave me a fighting chance at this game!

The enclosed blanket is small, but nice and soft. I liked how compact it was to carry, and I’ll definitely use it again with my kids at the park.

Both sets of trail mix were yummy. We snacked on these happily as we enjoyed our date.

Neither of us drink caffeinated tea, so both of these will be gifted to friends. Unbox Love suggested using the food and drink packets as prizes for whomever won individual disc golf holes. It was a great idea. We opted to forego the prizes as there was no way I was ever going to win this game, even with my husband handicapping my play. In his heyday, my husband played collegiate Ultimate for five years, and after that, even coached a collegiate men’s team to the national championship game. He has multiple throws with both hands, so restricting his throwing hand wasn’t going to give me an advantage either. Let’s face it, I was toast!

In addition to the frisbee golf game in a box, Unbox Love included these conversation starters to continue the fun and get the romance started after the official game had concluded. My husband and I especially enjoyed talking about what we remember about our wedding day. Surprisingly, we remembered a lot of different things!

Thanks to Unbox Love, we both had a great time on our date! We hired a babysitter and headed out to a local park to set up our disc golf game.

Unsurprisingly, my husband won every hole, even after handicapping me.

Afterward, we retreated back to our new blanket to answer the questions provided in the conversation starters.

What a low-key, fun start to the evening! Once we had finished the Unbox Love activities, we had enough time left over to see Pete’s Dragon before returning home for the night. Once home, we reflected back on all the fun we had, continuing some of the games, like quizzing each other on famous movie quotes, well into the evening. We can’t wait to see what they come up with next month!
