Beauteque offers two ways to get your fill of (mostly) Korean beauty products each month: BB Bag contains 6-8 full-sized products such as makeup, skin care, body care, and more for $24 per month; Mask Maven brings you 9 different masks for $15. Both subscriptions are offered in 1, 3, 6, or 12 month terms that will automatically renew until cancelled. The following is a review of August’s Mask Maven, whose theme is Post-Race Cooldown. This theme ties in with the August BB bag theme – Medal Worthy Beauty.

My masks were in a cute drawstring bag. I received 8 masks and 1 lip liner for the month of August.

The information card has an explanation of each item’s purpose and key ingredients along with basic directions. It states that an online version of this card along with the product ingredients can be found on their website later next month. Eight of the masks I received had the ingredients listed on the package and six of them had instructions in English.

The flip side of the card gave instructions on how you can post to social media and possibly win a free bag.

Yadah Cactus Soothing Mask Pack ($2.25) My first mask is a soothing one which I enjoy since my skin tends to be red and reactive. This cotton mask contains a cactus extract that is supposed to deeply moisturize and relieve skin stress.

Yadah Honey Moisturizing Mask Pack ($1.99) Next up is a moisturizing mask, another type I adore since my skin is getting older every day. This one contains honey and honeysuckle extract; honey is a natural antibacterial and contains antioxidants.

Missha Real Solution Collagen Total Care ($3.25) (Some subscribers will receive the Soothing Mask) This is a Tencel (instead of cotton) sheet mask and is designed to offer brightening and anti-wrinkling effects. Contains hydrolyzed collagen (gelatin), cauliflower extract, and macadamia and olive oils.

Saference Skin-RX Moisturizing Mask ($2.39) Perfect for tired and dry complexions (how did they know?), the hyaluronic acid in this mask helps the skin retain moisture and helps heal the barrier. Also contains gotu kola and purslane extracts for their healing properties. This mask was full of serum and was a bit hard to apply but fit well. It felt cool the entire time I had it on and left an almost greasy feeling on my skin. This would be perfect for winter when my skin tends to be drier.

Beauty Friends II Royal Jelly Essence Mask Sheet Pack ($1) (Some subscribers will receive the Vitamin Essence Mask) A moisturizing mask with royal jelly extract, which is supposed to soften the skin and help it look healthy.

Beauty Friends II Pomegranate Essence Mask Sheet Pack  ($1.90) (Some subscribers will receive the Coenzyme Q10 Mask) The pomegranate extract in this moisturizing mask is supposed to help smooth rough skin and tighten pores.

Dr. Jart+ Vital Hydra Solution Deep Hydration Sheet Mask ($4.99) is a deeply hydrating and replenishing mask that contains hyaluronic acid and algae extract to draw water to the skin along with tea and ginger extracts.

It’s Skin Cream Mask Sheet – Glow ($2.50) is a creamy moisturizing mask that has shea butter and argan oils for their super softening powers along with honeysuckle, peach leaf, tea, and ginko extracts and is supposed to make the skin glow.

Tonymoly Auto Lip Liner #01 Rose Beige ($7.60) I am a bit confused because my mystery mask wasn’t a mask at all! It specifically says “Mystery Mask” on my product info card but I received a nude lip liner instead. I don’t know if this was intended or a mistake. The product has the lip liner on one end and a lip brush on the opposite side for smudging. It easily smudged and disappeared as soon as I wiped it off my arm. It was a great nude shade for my lips and spread easily and lasted a few hours but luckily it didn’t stray outside of my lip line.

Swatched: TonyMoly Auto Lip Liner in #1.

I love the fact that I received mostly moisturizing masks this month! My skin could be described as aging so hydrating and soothing masks are what my face craves. These are perfect for helping my skin bounce back after a summer spent in the sun and heat. My August bag had a value of around $27.87, which is almost double the price paid for the subscription!
On a Side Note:  Before trying any Asian cosmetic subscription, expect that most information on the package will be in the native language. That said, more and more brands are including directions/ingredients in English, and information can also be found in English on the majority of brands’ websites (you may have to choose a brand’s global or US site).  Secondly, a large number of products focus on brightening or whitening the skin. I am as white as a ghost so I can’t comment on that particular effect but hopefully you will experience brighter skin at least. Lastly, many products contain ingredients which are animal-derived, so these may not be an option if you are vegan. You can also check out cosDNA.com to see if the ingredients for the product are listed there.
