PokéCrate is a monthly subscription box that brings you Pokémon all the time. Items that can’t be found anywhere else is included in the box. Shirts may be included in the crate. Select your shirt size from Adult Small to Adult 3XL

Rough Travels
Rough Travels

The box experienced a difficult journey through our world. The boys and I are going to kick it back old school style and check out the PokéCrate while the world goes mad over Pokémom Go. This box was purchased as a one-time purchase in the PokéCrate shop.

First Peeek
First Peek

I see Team Rocket peaking out at me. Is it a shirt?

Too much excitement!
Too much excitement!

J, age 7, had a hard time controlling his excitement. He loves all things Pokémon. T, age 17, used to be into it when he was younger. He still won’t share his Pokémon cards with his little brother.

Here are all the items in the April 2016 PokéCrate. I watched a couple of YouTube videos to confirm that the one-time purchase box matched the contents of the April box because an information card was not enclosed. Everything is there! The April PokéCrate theme is Viridian City Gym, which was first run by Giovanni who trained Team Rocket.

Empty

The Pokémon Master Ball catches them all!  Generally, you earn a Master Ball after you beat all the gyms when playing the Pokémon video games. It has a spring latch which activates when touching the white button. J, age 7, was surprised to find the Master Ball was empty. He uses it to catch Pokémons around the house. He has quite an imagination.

MewTwo
MewTwo Sticker

It’s an armored MewTwo getting ready to use a shadowball move! Giovanni’s scientist created MewTwo. which is a clone of Mew. This all happened back in the Pokémon: The First Movie (1998). J has a special spot for this sticker.

The Mewtwo vs. Mew Epic Rap Battle may not be safe for work or for little ones. It’s a fun clip for Pokémon fans.

Vidiian Gym Earth Badge Pin
Viridian City Gym Earth Badge Pin

You need to beat the gym leader, Giovanni, to earn the Viridian City Gym Earth Badge Pin. The pin is going on his lanyard which J proudly wears when we are out grocery shopping.

Team Rocket Mouse Pad
Team Rocket Mouse Pad

Team Rocket was trained by Giovanni at the Viridian City Gym. J is using it as a decorative pad. He loves it!

Pokemon Card
Pokémon Card

The Giovanni Pinsir’s Card is card 24 from Gym Challenge.  Pinisr is a basic grass type Pokémon. Giovanni and his gym badge can be seen in the lower right corner. You can see the Japanese version here.

P
Pokémon Breakthrough Series

J loved the Pokémon Breakthrough Series Blind Pack ($3.00). He keeps his cards organized in a binder. I think the boys compare their cards more often than they play the game. I am not sure how this fits in with the theme with the box. Team Rocket does use Houndooms, pictured on the package, occasionally. Maybe that is why?

Pocky
Pocky Sticks

Why? I am not sure how Pocky Sticks ($1.98) is related to Pokémon. No complaints in my household because growing boys and food go together.

J, age 7, loved PokéCrate. His brother, age 17, kept hovering around to check out the items. The box is loosely curated around the Viridian City Gym Theme. There seem to be issues with shipping the subscription box at times. I suggest using PayPal for added protection when ordering the subscription box. Overall, it was a fun box for my seven-year-old who loves all things Pokémon.

I think the Pocky relation was just maybe meant to be quirky? Pocky, Pocket Monsters, Pokemon (Pocky-mon). Lol. Totally something I would slip into a box. Lol
