Play! by Sephora is a monthly subscription box that brings only the best and exclusive Sephora beauty and makeup samples. The subscription costs $10.00 per month, and you’ll get 5 deluxe beauty products, playlists, a fragrance bonus item, plus coupons you can use when you visit in-store.
The theme for this month’s box is The Minimalists.
Next-level nudes and no-maintenance naturals! Sephora is paring it down this month!
This fold out poster shows a list of all the items included in this box plus beauty trivia and tips. You can access all of the information and also watch the videos right on the Sephora site. Here’s the June information!
The items are placed inside a bag inside the box to keep everything secure. Love that there’s a reusable bag, although it looks like it may not be a new theme on the bag each month, which might get a little old.
All the goodies in my June box!
BareMinerals BareSkin Sheer Sun Serum Bronzer ($2.80) I love BareMinerals so I was excited to see this brand in the box – this is a super blendable easy to apply mineral bronzer – and a little goes a long way! You can use it to contour or add all-over glow and it’s super lightweight!
Can you see the difference? Natural but definitely there.
tarte TARTEGUARD 30 Sunscreen Lotion Broad Specturm SFP 30 ($6.90) I was curious about this sunscreen – it’s all-mineral, non-chemical and broad spectrum SPF 30 – and it turns out that it’s super moisturizing, blends in perfectly, and smells nice too (the scent is ocean lily)! It’s almost a moisturizer with SPF and has maracuja, red algae, soybean, apple, and honeysuckle extracts to help tone skin and target imperfections while protecting. I didn’t think this would be such a wow product, but it was a winner for me.
Bumble and Bumble Don’t Blow It Hair Styler ($3.25) I don’t typically heat-style my hair so I was auto-sold on a Bumble and bumble product that wasn’t designed for it. This is a really lightweight cream (and I swear it’s semi-sparkly) to work into dry or towel-dried hair for a no-hassle finishing touch. It’s really nice for smoothing down flyaways too.
Benefit Cosmetics They’re Real Lengthening & Volumizing Mascara ($8) I first tried this mascara a couple months ago and wasn’t crazy about it, and I liked it about the same today. It’s a nice look but not that super plush look that I love. It’s good for travel!
Becca Backlight Priming Filter ($7.6) I believe that the only time I have ever seen this brand in a box is the POPSUGAR Special Edition Fall 2015 box, which is to say that I am not sure that the brand ever been in any mainstream box ever, so this is a real win. Yay Sephora!
This makeup primer is shimmery with the slightest tint and is designed to blur imperfections by diffusing light.
It does give a soft luminescence to your skin! The really soft sheen definitely glows through the right foundation plus it works great all by itself!
Tocca Florence Perfume ($1) It’s a vial (which is always vile) but I really cannot complain about the bonus item. Sephora does it right by including fragrance but making it a bonus – and I couldn’t be happier with getting a Tocca fragrance!
A Parisian beauty and sophisticate, Florence conjures memories of old-world Paris. It is an alluring combination of Italian bergamot and crushed violet petals. Ivory gardenia combined with blonde wood evokes a sophisticated and feminine scent that conjures the elegance of a Parisian sophisticate.
I did not know (as detailed in the booklet) that violets contain a chemical (ionone) that makes it impossible to smell continuously, which means you’re always trying to catch a whiff, and that explains why violet-scented things can be so seductive!
Sephora Play comes with a PLAY! Pass for their monthly meetup or for 50 extra BI points with any purchase. We don’t even have a JCP Sephora so I can’t use mine but I think the box is perfect without it (and probably wouldn’t generate a subscriber revolt if they eventually reduced the program). The value of the June box was about $30, which is really great for a $10 box and I love the selections for the month!

I’ve probably read a little more than my fair share of Sephora Play reviews lol. But I really enjoy how in depth yours is! Definitely plan to keep my subscription 🙂
Yay, I finally got the invite! Can’t wait to get my first box.
I love my box! The Becca primer is beautiful. I mixed a drop of the bronzer with the primer for a natural light makeup look! You are so right about the play pass, I wouldn’t miss it! 😉 I redeemed my play pass on a $8 Lavanila deodorant. It is cool to receive the extra 50 points, but I have anxiety and I remember why I shop online, Plus they only give you ONE sample(and hella ‘rude when you ask) and no bonus gift for spending $25. I will stick to the lovely boxes and use my flash shipping when shopping online! 🙂
Just signed up! So excited! But does anyone know what box we will start with? June or July? Thanks!
July!
Got my items but perfume sample was broken when I took items out I cut my finger so I called customer service and they gave me 250 points I guess that’s good but I would have also liked another perfume sample it smelled good but it was leaked on the bag.
Ouch! Only 250 points for broken glass??
I really enjoyed this month’s box. I really like all the brands and the Bare Minerals and Becca products are right up my alley and have lots of product in them. I also like that every box seems curated seasonally.
This looks great! Just got off the waiting list and am so excited to try next month’s installment!
