May 2016 eSalon Custom Hair Color Subscription Review + Coupon

eSalon Custom Hair Color is an at home custom color subscription.  This is my third application of their hair color.  The last couple of times I did their semi-permanent color which says it will last about 28 washes and since my color choice is really similar to my normal hair I did not notice a huge difference until about 45 days when I really started noticing my glitter strands coming back through.  This time with summer coming up I decided to go even lighter and switch it up to a permanent color. When you first log in you fill out a survey and answer questions about what you are looking for in a color and what color your currently are etc. They then had a chart showing where you are and what would work for you. From this they will send a custom blended color right to your door.

eSalon has a great box and once you flip the lid open you see even more markings.  These boxes are made just for you and they make sure you know.

When you first open the box you see your info card which I’m shoing below but once you move that you get to see everything that came in my eSalon box.

Here is the custom color solution. When you are ready to color your hair you will mix these up.

This is perfect and is all included in the little box.  It is all the extras you will need to color your hair: shampoo, conditioner, stain guard, stain remover, and gloves.

The subscription comes with easy to follow instructions. This is the front of the card and as you can see on the bottom of the card it shows the adjustments from my last box.  Before my box was set to come I went into my account and they have a section for you to add notes and any changes you want to make.  Since we are getting into spring I decided I wanted to go a little lighter blonde and switch up to a permanent color versus the semi-permanat that I had the last couple of times.  They then sent a note back telling me they got the message and have made the changes. They also updated the instructions for changes that were made due to my requests.

The instructions are easy to read and to follow.

Me and my hair again.  It is still long and many different colors.  I am using my cape from my first The Matchup box.  It was much easier to color with the cape instead of the towel that I used last time.  The towel was clunky and hard to move my arms around but the cape was lightweight and easy to maneuver with. It also didn’t keep falling down since it hooks in the back.

Oh my look at all those grey strands!!!! I like to call them my fairy strands since they are like glitter in my hair however I am trying with the color to get them more blended in so I’m trying some new pictures to see the difference.  I’ve actually never taken pictures like this before but you can really see whats going on up there so I might need to add this in when I’m worried about my hair.

Here it is mostly dried and ready to go.  I love that it covers up some of my gray strands and that it really gives my hair a vibrancy and a shine that it was lacking.  It is really hard to capture in pictures but my hair is noticeable lighter which is just what I was going for. I’m loving this and can’t wait to see how it stands up to the summer sun.

Oh WOW I took a close up view in this one but this is the after of the top of my head. While I can still see some of the strands they are more blended and not nearly as prominent as before.  With my other eSalon colors and the semi-permanent I was starting to notice them back about a month in so I’m curious to see how that is different with the permanent color I used this time.

I loved eSalon and the ease in which they  made selecting my color and then the easy to follow instructions.  My friends always notice the difference when I color my hair and could really tell it this time. I said it above but adding the color just ups the shiny and healthy look of my hair. That makes me happy and that is really what dying my hair is all about.
