Loot Crate DX is a new monthly subscription box from Loot Crate. It’s themed with the regular Loot Crate spoilers, except it contains premium next level loot for discerning geeks! It’s like a special edition box from Loot Crate – every month!
I liked the classy style of the packaging with the slick paper.
Everything was packed in beautifully — there’s plenty of room, so nothing gets squished!
The bottom of the box says “You got the POWER [crate]!
Everything in the box!
The box comes with a tri-fold booklet with a short note and information about Loot Crate’s community features. Check out the theme experience hub here.
And the information for all the items! The box was loaded with exclusives! The card itself is pretty cool — each picture has a shiny coating that makes it stand out from the matte background.
Stan Lee Power Pin: An awesome jagged design featuring our favorite mild-mannered cartoonist turned international superstar. Our favorite part about Marvel movies is looking for his cameo!
It has a double backing, so it doesn’t spin. This item is the only non-exclusive in the box (or at least not labeled as an exclusive on the information card – but neither was last month’s pin, which was a Loot Crate exclusive).
Grey Matter Art Exclusive Hulk Lithograph: Laced with glow-in-the-dark paint, this cool framable is styled like a screen shot from the S.H.I.E.L.D. personnel database. This is a really cool litho and we can’t say we were unhappy with this one!
Bioworld Exclusive Captain America Snapback: This hat has a raised, embroidered Captain America shield patch front and center, with a snap-back enclosure. Breathable practice jersey type fabric covers the back, and it comes in unmistakeable Cap’n blue.
Our tiny Avenger is so fly!
Jada Toys Exclusive 6″ Light Up Iron Man Figure: This Mark V is all die-cast metal (don’t store him up too high if you are in an earthquake-prone area – he’s seriously heavy!).
Appropriately, the collection of metal figures features several versions of Iron Man.
The figurine was not escaping the box without some assistance. Does anyone have a laser built into their hand?
Whew, fortunately we found someone!
Though he looks top-heavy, he stands by himself. The body is proportioning gives him a fore-shortened look that makes him appear to be leaning toward you. His suit is the Mark V, which makes him exclusive to the box.
His arc reactor lights up when you press his stomach. We were a little bummed that the light can’t stay on, but that didn’t keep us from enjoying the figure!
The back is exquisitely detailed, but it also has the battery hatch (yay for replaceable batteries!) and boring production info.
Bioworld Exclusive Skeletor Long Sleeve Performance Shirt: I thought He-Man would be the clear choice, given his catch phrase, but Skeletor is pretty cool (he has an amazing physique for a skeleton, too). Skeletor is pictured along with mini versions of his Havoc Staff. The shirt is a polyester and cotton blend (65/35) that is designed to wick moisture. We thought it odd to include a long sleeve shirt in a summer box — but long sleeves can actually be a good choice for limiting sun exposure (or dealing with intense AC).
Loot Crate Labs Exclusive Street Fighter Duffel Bag: What better way to represent at the gym than to haul your gear in a bag honoring the original MMA contest? Or you can lug your console and game gear around, whatever. This bag has really great styling for bearing such an irreverent logo.
The main compartment and smaller side pouch are joined by multiple webbed pockets for easy access. The double handle and shoulder strap make this a bag perfect for holding and hauling just about anything. FYI, the graphic is printed on a Gemline Verve Sport Bag blank (about $12 at scale). We would have liked to see a bit nicer quality on the bag, although it’s well constructed and 600 denier polyester.
Loot Crate DX is great for Loot Craters that can’t get enough loot (This guy seriously loves his Loot!) — it is a great way to get the oversized items that just wouldn’t work in a normal Crate. Keep the exclusives coming!
That being said, we’re still looking for top-of-the-line Loot and we’re not sure that this box has quite found the sweet spot quite yet. We loved this month’s litho, but we weren’t expecting a print in every box, so we’re hoping they mix that up, as well as concentrate on the quality and variety of the items (they currently seem to be focusing on larger items). We think that Loot Crate will still be adjusting this subscription based on feedback and demand, so be sure to fill out your box surveys. One more thing – this box is a really great value for international subscribers that may find it much harder to come by quality licensed items.
